Pours a deep ruby amber with a nice chunky head that lasts all the way down the pint
Smells of dark fruit, sugary caramel, malt.
Apples, pears, a little date, some brown bread, and a well balanced hop bitterness. Nice brew.
Decent carbonation, firm body, and the head that lasts give this a very decent mouthfeel.
I liked this one, but 1 was enough. Complex, a bit filling. Enjoyable.

Pint from the cask at Carnarvon Castle in Liverpool. A classic divey pub with a noticeably older clientele. Friendly folk enjoying some ale and equally friendly bartenders. For some reason I felt like the place went quiet and everyone was staring at me when I walked up to the bar, though. Anyway, I made the right choice out of six handles. This is a proper Amber ESB for a reasonable £4.15, especially in this part of town just off a major tourist route. A quiet, authentic escape from ubiquitous capitalism.

Had this on draught in a London pub some years ago. severed with a plate of fish & chips, with the "chill off" as usual.
Copper/amber in color and a quickly dissipating head of foam. Not much of aroma of course I never really had the 'nose' when it came to smelling beer.
taste was typical and nothing unusual as was the mouth feel. Overall not a bad beer.

Look: copper almost purplish dark brown, with slightly off-white head, leaving nice lacing
Aroma: dark fruits and spices
Flavor: I think the flavor is toasted bread, dark fruits, and mild grassy bitterness.
Body/Overall: full bodied, and I think it is pretty good.

A clear pint glass came filled, having been drawn by a hand pump. There's a modest and enduring biege head floating on top of a brown-amber liquid. It's bright and except for its considerable color, rather clear. The aroma tells "England" to the nose. British malt and British hops have a distinctive earthy, yet mildly sweet character to them. That's what you get to taste, too. The malt provides a nice whole grain and bready sweetness, while the hops add another layer that's only moderately bitter, but helps to dry out the finish. Quite smooth, especially coming from a beer engine, this really just slides down quickly. With a relatively low ABV, having a couple more should be no problem. Overall, this may not provide fireworks for the mouth, nor taste like an indulgent desert. It won't get you super-buzzed after just one pint. All it does, other than provide some nice glass lacing, is drink like a traditional beer is supposed to. Except, it's a little better than that.

Had on draft at Epcot of all places. Dark and inviting, a bit of caramel taste with some subtle, but noticeable bitterness. Mouthfeel is spectacular. Good example of English beer

It is so true that you had better leave ales warm up a little to reach their full potential. This was a bit bitter and felt empty when poured cold bit became much rounder and it didn’t lack anything anymore. The bitterness remained though, being an integral part of its taste but was much more homogenous after reaching a certain temperature. Same with the aroma, the breadiness was only noticeable after some time. But all of these is common knowledge. The beer was okay, isn’t a gamechanger but I would call it “good enough.”

Crystal clear reddish-orange amber colour with three fingers of thick, foamy, slightly off-white head that slowly recede and linger to the end of the pint, leaving generous rings of lacing. The aroma is a bit muted - a bit of fruit and malt, somewhat musty, which I also noticed with Hobgoblin, a similar type of British ale also brewed by the Marston's conglomerate. This time though, the flavour is excellent. Sweet crystal malt, ripe orchard fruit, and those unmistakable musty and earthy English hops. A very British ale, and I like that.
