Banana Bread BeerBanana Bread Beer
Notes: Long ago, ale was known as 'liquid bread'. We've used our long history of creating the finest malt blends & added fair-trade bananas to awaken the senses with a seriously fruity, rich, yet surprisingly versatile banana bread beer.

An inspired brew made with our own natural mineral water & fairtrade bananas. Tempting Banoffee aromas & flavors are balanced by the silky richness of a masterful malt blend & the peppery spice of the freshest, ripest hops.

Picked up a sizer in the HyVee Beer Cave. Intrigued by the potential flavor. Not disappointed. A nice Belgian like banana aroma. On the taste there is a nice maltiness and breadiness upfront.m with prevalent banana It transitions to a tart bitterness then finishing clean with some lingering banana. Great selection as it’s well balanced. Not too sweet not too bitter. A nice selection. Very unique and different.

12oz can into a pint glass. Best by 7/15/23 plenty fresh.

Looks pretty good. Deep yellow amber body. Good size soapy head shrinks to a fat collar and covering, excellent lacing.

Amazing aroma. Spot on for fresh banana bread.

On tasting, though both banana and bread are present, it doesn't live up to the nose. Light sweetness early on.

Mouth between medium and full. The problem with this beer is in the finish. It is very drying, and leaves a dry bitterness in the mouth which destroys any trace of banana bread.

Overall, one of those beers where a pleasant experience early on is wiped out by the finish. Normally my overall, score would take into account good marks for look and aroma, but not this time.

L: clear gold like banana juice with a good head if poured aggressively.
S: bananas! With hops, but the bananas are overpowering.
T: banana juice with all the sweetness removed, maybe a hint remaining. Hops and malt come underneath.
F: juice like, good carbonation.
O: fun, but probably would benefit from a hit of vanilla simple syrup added. Didn't try it since I only had the one bottle. The sum of this beer is less than its parts,

330ml can served in a tulip. Dated BBE 18/01/22. Bought it at Total Wine not too long ago.

Pours a clear, moderately dark amber with a fairly small head and ongoing, slow carbonation. Smell...well, it fills the room with a lingering banana aroma. If I put it under my nose, I do get a little bit of a doughy banana bread vibe, as opposed to straight up banana Runts.

Taste is more bitter than I expected. Kind of an earthy bitterness. Doughiness is kind of there, banana surely is, almost a chemical astringence. Maybe some nuttiness and slightly burnt bread.

Mouthfeel is dry, light. Overall...to me, this is basically a novelty beer. It's not terrible, but I wouldn't choose to drink it again.

Look: Poured from a 11.2 oz can, room temperatures from Trader Joe’s for 4.99/ 6 pack. Amber/ dark pour looks with heavy foam rising. I assume it’s due to being room temperatured.
Smell: As advertised, heavy aromas of banana, malt, bread, and spices. Almost like a Christmas/ Halloween beer.
Taste: Getting that big taste of banana followed by malts and bread. Not much of a ending to this beer as the taste dies off quickly.
Feel: Lighter bodied beer for sure, not very heavy at all. Like I said the ending is what kills it for me.
Overall: This is a unique beer. If the ending was better this would be a lot more popular than it is.

Purchased as a single tall bottle from Ingles for $4.00. Poured into a tulip glass.

L - Clear rust orange, with a one-finger off-white head. Lacing is excellent - it coats the glass all the way down!
S - Strong notes of banana candy, honey, and Hoppes No. 9. That's pretty much it.
T - Starts off with a surprisingly weak banana candy flavor, and eases into a wheat bread. The finish is a comeback of that banana candy flavor, but a lot stronger! Aside from the banana candy and [possible] honey wheat, there isn't a whole lot else going on. Errs on the sweeter side, but overall well-balanced.
F - Easy-to-drink. Medium in body, and medium in carbonation. Clean.
O - This review comes from a man who hates bananas. They're the only food I can't bear to eat. I'm not writing this out of the enjoyment of such flavors - just the comparisons and recognition of certain flavors. This nails the "banana bread flavor" for the first second of a sip, on the last half of the glass. Anything else is like someone dropped some Banana Runt concentrate in a tall glass of Stella Artois. It's not that that's inherently bad, but it's just... not what I was expecting out of a beer setting out to taste like banana bread. If this is how they make banana bread, they need to stop baking. Anyhow, I finished the glass, and somehow the very, very last sip tasted EXACTLY of freshly-baked banana bread. Personally, I wouldn't buy this again, but maybe some of you would.

Poured from an 8oz can stamped "BBE 29/05/22" to a tulip at fridge temp.
Pour and elegant dark gold body with a nice white head. Lacing is pretty good throughout the session.
Aroma is of banana liqueur and vanilla.
Taste is very similar to those bananarama candies. There is a hint of real banana, but the overpowering affect is artificial.
Body is appropriate.
Overall, too much artificial taste to make this enjoyable. A niche market of people for sure.

As soon as I saw this beer on the Wegman's shelf, I believed the heavens had smiled upon me. Immediately, my mind was filled with dreams of the potential contained in this beer's flavor. The following month was a blur as I patiently waited for the perfect moment to peel the cap and enjoy an incredible lager. But lo, this was to be my greatest disappointment, far greater than old yeast. This beer, this accursed beer, is not flavored in the vein of banana bread. Instead, it follows the flavor of bananas. Beware your buds; the toasted, spiced experience of a cold winter day will not be found in this mockery of alcoholic mediums. Dare I say it, the yellow-bellied brewers in this company could not tame the nostalgic dreams of banana breads past. That said, if you like bananas and lagers, you'll have a good time.

Look: Pours a clear, bright copper colour with a one finger yellowed white head. The head has great retention, after 5 minutes its still a good 1/4 finger with substancial lacing clinging around the glass.

Smell: Strongly of candy (artificial) banana flavouring, with a bit of malt. If you have ever smelled marshmallow banana candies, that is what to expect here.

Taste: Pretty watery, with the artificial marshmallow banana flavour coming through into the middle of the sip.

Feel: Light and pretty heavily carbonated.

I figured this beer woiuld be pretty gimmicky. Less like a nice slice of banana bread and more like banana marshmallow candy, or banana syrup mixed with seltzer water. This might have been beter served to play up the toasty malty attributes of banana bread, rather than the candied sweetness. This earns a B-

Hey, do you remember that banana medicine you had as a kid ? Cause I do (and I freakin loved it) but I can’t lie that this is what the beer tastes like… it’s great for me cause I enjoy that flavour but the banana medicine is also something I haven’t heard fond feelings about… but an interesting beer that I enjoyed!

beer no.600, had this the other night. my tradition now for each century is to have a bad beer for fun i suppose, now i’m not sure this qualifies as an objectively bad beer like some of the others i’ve had, but man this is unpleasant, the banana flavour is more akin to banana liqueur than the fruit itself. i’m reasonably fond of banana flavour in beer, love a good hefe, but this doesn’t cut it, far too sweet, banana flavour is totally overwhelming, the nutty and spicy flavours subdued, not good.

Smells like banana bread, tastes more like an American lager with hints of banana. I enjoyed it for what it is, but this isn't a session beer and I'd likely only buy it on sale for special occasions.

500 ml clear bottle, as Wells Banana Bread Beer, bought at Systembolaget, Sweden. ABV is 5.2%. Deep golden to amber colour, moderate white head. Fairly strong artificial banana aroma, not very pleasant, kind of sickly actually. The flavour is somewhat better than the aroma, notes of artificial "banana" candy throughout, but the sweetness is not overpowering, and there are notes of malts, toffee and hops too. The finish is reasonably hoppy. Would I drink it again, if for free, in order not to insult the host? Yes I would. Will I (ever again) pay good money for it myself? No way!
