On draught, pours gold with a small white head, medium carbonation. Aroma is sweet and fruity hops, malts. Taste is a bit grainy, and citrus hops and the finish is quite bitter and light, slightly cloying. It's the sort of lager an ale brewer makes in that it's not quite balanced out properly but it's a better non premium option than others like Fosters or Carling.

Served cold from 500ml bottle into tall pilsner mug.
A) Light amber colour, clear, some big bubbles coming up. I went for a vigorous pour and there was an attractive white bubbly head that dissipates quite quickly, although there is lacing.
S) Not a lot, slight hint of some kind of new-world hops with a grape juice odour.
T) Wet brown paper. Some back of-the-throat hop bitterness, but nothing at the top of the mouth to give it a nice swallow.
M) Too flat for a lager with little hop or malt flavour. A slight drying of the mouth, which should not happen after drinking cold lager.
O) Poor, with no redeeming features.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Oct 2014. Picked up from a supermarket a little while back. The label describes it as a craft lager that contains six different hop varieties and claims citrus notes in the flavour.
Poured into a straight pint glass. A bright golden-amber colour with faint haze and light carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy white foam that lasts for a couple of minutes before settling as a wispy surface layer. Aroma of light malt with hints of grain, grass/hay, a whisper of spiciness and faint stewed hops. Not much going on.
Tastes of light malt with a dry finish. Notes of mild grain, pale malt, grass/hay, faint noble hops, a vague twinge of citrus, stewed leaves and a hint of earthy yeast. Highly attenuated, followed by a crisp, delicate bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, dry and lightly tingly, with soft carbonation and good body for the style. Mildly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of grass, stewed hops and a hint of cardboard.
It's alright - nothing stunning but a definite cut above your typical macro lager. Looks OK, though the aroma is bland and uninspired. The flavour is a shade better; grassy hops blend nicely with the malt. Decent body, particularly the light carbonation. I wouldn't call it an amazing beer, but it's one of the better offerings I've tried from Marstons. Worth sampling if you come across it.

It pours the usual pale amber clear body with big foamy quickly disappearing head though it does retain a full mm body
On the nose there is just that metallic note that you get from lager
Fruity taste some lime, some very faint grapefruit but hop tasting fruit even if not big tastes and a tiny bitter finish
Not too fizzy okay MF for the style
this would be okay to get in for a mixed Bitter/lager Micro/Macro gathering I reckon.

500ml Brown bottle: Marston/Banks's answer to the new 'craft lager' market in the UK. Poured into a tall 'Fosters' glass at home on 28th Nov 13.
The beer looked a good medium depth golden colour and unlike most lagers, craft or otherwise this had a white head that actually hung around for a while. The body was clear and bright with carbonation bubbles rising steadily throughout the tasting.
The nose was weak citrus and nothing else, usual non-smelling lager/pilsner otherwise.
The taste was a mixture of citrus hints and semi-sweet maltiness with a fruity dry finish as the hops took over again after the malty centre.
Good body feel and nicely put together.
This is one of the better 'craft lagers' around at the moment in the UK (that I've had anyway). So well done marston/Banks's.
