A 500ml bottle with a BB of Feb 2015. Purchased a while back from Tesco. The label states that this brew contains 6 different hop varieties.

A: Poured into a straight pint glass. A deep ruby hue with good clarity and medium carbonation. Yields a large head of creamy off-white foam with excellent retention; this slowly reduces to a thick surface layer. Nice lacing.

S: Aroma of dark malt with hints of caramel/molasses, mild roasted grain, white grape, citrus, subtle tropical fruit, fruity ale yeast and faint stewed leaves. Tasty.

T: Tastes of subtle dark malt and fruity hops with a dry, bitter finish. Notes of roasted grain, caramel/molasses, husks, white grape, citrus, mild tropical fruit, ale yeast, stewed leaves and a touch of cardboard. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained malty bitterness upon swallowing.

M: Mouthfeel is smooth and tingly, with effervescent carbonation and decent body. Slightly astringent, accompanied by an aftertaste of fruity aromatic hops, subtle dark malt and stewed leaves/cardboard.

O: Not bad, particularly given that it's Marston's. Looks great, while the aroma and flavour are a decent blend of darker malt and fruity aromatic hops. Some subtle harshness in the flavour. Body is OK. Not overly hoppy; more of a dark pale ale (a stupid name I know). However, it displays good balance and goes down nicely. Worth trying at least once.

Dark brown body with huge slightly off white head (I did leave some beer in the bottle and shook it up to have a rich lather so at least the beer would look good)

Not much aroma burned toast with a slight metallic peppermint hint

Again the flavours are there but really scaled back It's like a half decent black IPA
watered down with Evian
the hops and roast start on the tongue for a moment than start falter
leaving a feeling of charcoal and water

just wrong on the mouthfeel
very watery
if this was twice as good it would still be half hearted
