Bottle. Golden orange. Little head. Very effervescent. Looks more like a cider than beer.
Grassy notes with some citrus. Not much there.
Hoppy with some light caramel. Rather sweet.
Medium body and somewhat cloying.
I have had this on tap which seemed much better at the time.

Dish water.....mediocre in every respect. Not a proper IPA or a proper AIPA. Non-descript bilge. Sorry I don't like it at all. I'd rather drink water.

Drunk at a friend's house. Half liter bottle poured into a glass.

-Pale Orange colour. Foam head disappears very very quickly.
-Wooden smell. Not bad, but nothing outstanding.
-Orange and bitter. Good.
-Not so much bitterness left after that which is good for an IPA

A normal one.

500ml bottle:
Light copper & clear with a thin, soapy white lacing on the surface that's patchy. Biscuit malts, bread & faint citrus open the nose with some caramel & earthy malts too. The taste is similar, mainly biscuit & caramel malts with a citrus tang, some grassy hops & an earthy bitterness to finish. The body is light-medium & tangy wirha sharp, crisp feel despite being asic & slightly one dimensional.

On draught in Wetherspoons. Pours a clear orange/brown body with 1.5 finger head. Aroma of sour grapefruit. Taste is quite thin but refreshing for the style, some restrained but pleasant hop bitterness but also some toffee, more like an English IPA. Finish is quite fizzy, bitterness is short lived and a lingering sweetness. It's a decent enough ESB/AIPA.

Pours an almost clear, deep golden amber coloration with a medium, frothy head and slightly visible carbonation. Smells of biscuity, grainy malt and floral, citrus/tropical hops, with notes of grapefruit, tangerine and just a hint of pineapple. Taste follows the nose, with a good balance of biscuity, grainy malt and floral, citrus/tropical hops, with grapefruit and tangerine in the foreground and hints of pineapple and pine coming through as well. Finishes with a medium bitterness and some grapefruit, pineapple and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

A decent English take on an American IPA with a good malt/hop balance and bitterness, as well as some nice citrus/tropical hop notes and light pine coming through, although just a tad too floral for my personal taste. Feels a bit old school, with a slight West Coast touch. Nothing spectacular, but enjoyable enough at the end of the day.

Aroma has a decent amount of citrusy grapefruit
The flavour is stewed hops and tinny notes
Feels rather fizzy and thin

Bottle from Co-op. A lovely dark gold colour, with thin white head that dissipated rapidly. Robust, but not overpowering smells of pine and citrus. Taste was not as strong as I would expect from an American IPA, but grapefruit, pine and citrus notes were present. The finish was rather meh - not much bitterness on it.

Gives the impression it’s an IPA from Shipyard Brewery in Maine but small print reveals it’s brewed by Marston’s. A bitter and fruity pale ale with a citrusy bite. Would rate higher as an English bitter. Too dialled down for AIPA style.

Great beer, very similar to the higher rated Citra from Oakham Ales. Also available on the now ubiquitous 5L minikeg. Nicer than the similar Rye IPA.

A great cooperative beer from Marston’a relationship with Shipyard Brewery in Portland, Maine. Just need to bring more of their great beers over and add to the wide Marston’a brand family which includes Ringwood and Jennings.

Minikeg from Morrison’s, Binley, Coventry. Bargain @£10.

L- Pours dark amber. 5mm almost white head. With some gentle tiny CO2 bubbles. Head clearing slowly.
S- Surprisingly fruity! Perhaps peach and some lychee. [The lable suggests 'grapfruity citrus', and yes I can see that now, in a somewhat perfumed way].
T- Rather like an English bitter but into a strikingly dry hoppy finish.
M- Dry, refreshing, Oh that finish on the 2nd mouthfull, is bordering on too hoppy/dry for me.
O- When I bought this I believed it was brewed in the US. The name Marston's is mentioned just once discretely tucked away in the small-print on the back lable. I'm still getting lychee coming through, though my palate is adjusting to the citric strength of it.
Bought from Tesco, Queensway, London W2. BB 31/7/19
