99p at Aldi & Lidl for a 500ml bottle - this is a brilliant beer for the price and perfect for midweek at only 3.8%

500ml bottle into a pint glass. Best by March 2023, so guessing 2-3 months old.

Looks outstanding in the glass. Crystal clear amber golden body. Foamy off white head persists throughout leaving rings of lacing.

Not much of an aroma here, a little malty.

On tasting, slightly sweet, malty, a light bitterness that lasts on the tongue.

Mouth above medium, finish malty with that light bitter touch.

Overall, an unassuming clean eady drinking English Bitter. Man, I've missed these.

Poured from a bottle from ASDA. I had my first bitter in pub in Shepherds Bush in 1985. As and American passing through London it was revelation. As an American resident in London, I am always on the look out for what to me tastes like a traditional bitter. Banks does it. The look is a nice bronze color with a good head. The smell is mild, which is right. The taste starts with solid malt base, and then ends with the 'bitter' ness that gives him this beer it's name. The mouthfeel is fulsome, and satisfying. To me this is solid example of a bitter, get if you can find it.

L- Very deep golden, clear, pours with 3mm white head into a trad British nonic pint glass.
S- I can get no smell from this beer at all, curious! I'm rating that as 2.5 as I can find nothing either positive or negative to note.
T- Thin, bitter, quite hoppy dry, a zingy herbal edge comes through at the end.
F- It's light and hence refreshing, might work better for me in mid-summer than mid-winter. Now half-way through it, the head has cleared almost completely bar one small patch and a thin semi-circle ring. Carbonation in the mouth is also quite low (no bad thing for this style).
O- It's unremarkable and it presents nothing that would make me buy it again. It somehow manages to taste materially lighter than it's 3.8% ABV.
Bought from Tesco, Portobello Road, London W11 for a surprisingly low 90p, and that was not on any kind of offer.

Another English Bitter enjoyed while in London.
Pours a clear amber/copper color with a moderate head that displays decent retention.
Im detection slightly fruity aromas, perhaps melon, to go along with nutty and biscuity malt.
At first, the taste highlights the nutty and biscuity malts and light fruit that imparts a moderate sweetness. However, a hops bitterness soon sets in. The hops flavors become earthy, dark and dry. The finish is dry and with a moderately bitter linger.
Medium bodied, very smooth and gently carbonated. Well balanced and sessionable.
A good example of the style.

Part of the Marston’s PLC 6 pack. The beer pours a clear copper colour with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma is caramel, citrus, and cereal. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with average carbonation. The flavour is caramel, cereal, and weak citrus notes. A typical English bitter.

From Costco. In Ikea's pint glass. After dinner. Very sweet beginning for being called a bitter but pretty pleqsant nonetheless and with an extraordinary feeling for such a low ABV
