Yah, Yah, Milwaukee!
(Or in this case, more precisely, the Northwestern MKE neighbor of surburban Menomonee Falls- Germantown).

Worked my way from Kolsch to Kostriker Schwarz on the small but high quality six taps while talking to the owner's very nice daughter, Jenny. ( Her dad also owns the adjacent, popular, more food oriented Jerry's Old Town next door. The two bars share a very comfortable beer garden as well as kitchen facilities.)

The beer menu offers over 200 bottled choices from around the globe with German/European emphasis. Decent glassware selection is used plus they have boots and ridiculous (5 liter?) ceramic mugs for group bonding sessions !

A lovely older setting with ceramic tap sets and hard woods complimented by stained glass windows.

While I did not rate the food, the cheesy French onion soup was just right with my beverage choices. Lots of sandwiches and German twists on the lunch menu.

Jenny & Company have resisted adding Blue Moon and other "trendy" choices here. A welcome place to escape all of the latest beer fads with classic beers. Escape to Wisconsin.

Visited Von Rothenburg's for a company event! In October. Weather was really cooperative and we sat outside and had an sampling of Octoberfest's. Food was a non-event, but the atmosphere made up for any shortcomings!

Cheers! I will be back next time I'm in Menomonee Falls

I've been here four times in the past year, and each time has been an enjoyable step into an Old World land. The biergarten out back is wonderfully secluded from Main Street, and I love that I can sit at a picnic table with a liter and a giant "bretzel" while my dog lounges nearby. The food is quite good (though I'm knocking a quarter star off because they never seem to have landjager in stock). My go-to is the aforementioned bretzel with house mustard and Obatzda cheese spread. They also have German culinary favorites like schnitzel, weisswurst, and spaetzle. But the beer! Oh, the beer! Their house breweries seem to be Hofbrau & Weihenstephaner...not too shabby. They also carry other German heavyweights such as Kostrizer and Radeberger. Every liter has been quite fresh, and their seasonal selection is always nice...Maibocks, Sommerbiers, Oktoberfests. A literal hidden gem in Germantown. If you like Wisconsin beer culture, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

I've been to this place a number of times so I figure it's about high-time I rate it:

To show my friends (one from Holland and his girlfriend from India) around when they just came up for this weekend, I took them a number of places. The first being Von Rothenburg because it's close to home and what better way to kick off the weekend with a Boot?

We parked right across the street around 9:30 p.m. and made out way inside after a few pictures were taken. The building's atmosphere, as a whole, looks like it belongs in Germany (from what I have seen in movies/pictures). If the style is off, they sure fooled me.

The building actually seems like it was once a house converted into what it is today: a haven for good beer lovers. The inside is not too dimly lit, but just enough to create a cozy environment. The beer menu is listed by country and, pointed out by my Danish friend, Holland and The Netherlands are listed separately while still being the same place. The bulk of the beer list lies with Belgium, England, and Germany. Lots to pick from and all at reasonable prices. There were, to my recollection, 4 taps, or at least those were the options for filling the Boot.

There was a bottle of Lion Stout (very good), Heineken Dark (mediocre) and the boot (which required a credit card, because in case it broke, you were charged $80, a little steep) was BitBurger Pils.

The service was ok, nothing special, and the last time I went, it was sub-par with a different server. We didn't have food, but the beer list is enough to keep me going back to try new things.

Also, it's worth nothing that there is an upstairs too I didn't go up there, and there seems to be a beer garden but that was closed too.

This Stube (German for "room") is a tiny tavern located appropriately in Germantown, WI (just norhtwest of Milwaukee). With over 100 biers (in bottles) and six German bier taps, Von Rothenburg is a bier-lovers dream. Slippers, boots, mugs, pilsners, and many other bier drinking vessels are all avaiable so that you may enjoy your favorite brew in its correct container. Though tiny, the custom carved wood trim fills the bar and two small eating areas. Voted as the best bier garten in Milwaukee, warm weather bier drinkers will appreciate the outdoor area in the back.

Cool Clubs:
Bier Drinkers Club, drink all bottle biers in a three year period to earn bier drinking respect, a t-shirt and your name on a special wall plaque;

Liter Mug Club, drink all the taps in a 1-liter mug within six months to earn bier drinking respect, a t-shirt (I think) and your name on another wall plaque

I recommend this great little Stube to any BA or other bier lover passing through town. The limited German food menu is good, the available biers are outstanding (even though they do have Miller and Bud for some reason), and the atmosphere is amazing! Places like Von Rothenburg Bier Stube are where the true bier lovers go to enjoy their favorite fermented friends.
