This joint nestled into the second floor of PWM needs to be listed on Beeradvocate. It's simple: sometimes, getting off a plane, you need a beer RIGHT AWAY.

There are four or five of the Shipyard products available, including my typical choice, the Old Thumper. Prices are up there, but considering the alternatives (waiting for your luggage, waiting for your ride, driving the mile to the mallside Sebago location) paying $6 for a 22 ounce beer isn't that bad. Food (chicken sandwiches, nachos etc.) is pretty much unecessary, unless you're flying out and checked in for your flight wicked early.

Service has always been pretty snappy; the place never gets too busy, really. You can (of course) watch planes taxi as you sup. Atmosphere would get a 5 if I was an airplane devotee, or men in pilots' uniforms made me hot.

Not a big fan of Shipyard as a rule but this place is a godsend. Before I left Maine, I lived about 2 hours away from Portland. If I was flying out, my mantra was to get there early and the Shipyard pub was a nice haven before going through security.

Atmosphere, considering it's in an airport is decent. I was nice and comfortable at my barstool.

Quality of the brew is very good. Always nice and fresh and they seem to take care of the lines. I mean, some of their ales are so light that you would probably notice if it was off.

Barkeep is always quick (or as quick as he can be) and friendly.

Selection is...well, it's Shipyard with maybe a Bud tap thrown in. But they tend to have, say, Bluefin Stout or a seasonal like the Winter Ale so they mix it up a bit. The Fuggles IPA (my regular Shipyard) is always there.

Never had the food, didn't look so hot from where I sat.

A bit pricey but a nice haven in a not so interesting airport.

I hit up this place at about 9 or 10 in the morning, had nothing better to do while waiting for my flight to leave.

The waitress was prompt while a bunch of us were sitting at the bar. Pretty open but is more cozy than most other pub places at other airports I've been to.

Selection, as you would guess it, is primarily Shipyard. Tastes just as good as any other Shipyard I've had on-tap.

Didn't have time to try the food, but I can't imagine it's too good, most pub food in airports are barely at par.

I would have to say this is one of the few quality craft breweries I've seen at airports, guess I just need to fly more to find out.

This is the type of place that seems almost the epitome of what is found at an airport. To me this place reminds me of a place pilots would go and have a drink or two to release some stress. But I often adventure here and I must say its an interesting place. The quality is excellent if you like shipyard beer. Its like an added bonus. The quality is excellent compared what one would expect from an airport. This type of statement goes along with the food. While it's not true that the food is decent compared to other places around Portland, just think of an airport and airplane food. Then you'll be thankful you got to eat here. Is the price a little pricey? Yes it is, there is no lying about this, but it goes back to being the case of an airport. Airports are always expensive. In closing the place is decent if you like to catch a beer before getting on a flight and isn't that bad of a place ot have a drink or two.
