Bottled early 2015; drank 3/22/15 @ the Yarchives.

See-through orange appearance.

HUGE khaki head; a curtain of tree-rung lace.

Sweet melon, mild fresh ganja & faint booze heat in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Sweet melon flavor up front with a mildly bitter bite on the finish. As this warmed, mild booze heat emerged.

A nice & simple balance between sweetness & bitterness; well done!

Solid if a bit underwhelming, a good peachy fruitiness.

10%@abv. Hop variety so new it doesn't have a name.

A: Dark orange, translucent quality, with a healthy rise of carbonation. Frumpy, old white colored head, is well lasting providing a near sheet coating down the vessel for lacing.

S: Freshly sliced grapefruit, citrus, with some lemon meringue pie. Dried orange and lime with some honey-dried hay notes. Soothing delivery, mid-range awareness and duration. Gets points for its complexity for a single hop variety and the unknown factor.

T: Parching dry citrus of huge amounts add bittering flowery appeal with dry alcohol laced lemons. Toasty malt, dry spiciness, some dry lime and alcohol comes next with some dank herbal mentions. Finishes with a grassiness and touch of raw onion hop hint.

M: Thick lush body and texture, tingly carbonation, spicy with a alcohol warming.

O: Overall a bit high on the abv% side to showcase a new hop variety, wished they would of toned it down a bit along with the speciality malt with a more pale backing to better showcase this variety. Flavor is continious, single hop variety so no spikes in variety, but has a rather blunt delivery of hops which get a bit distracted by the alcohol finish. Would like to see this hop variety used in a few different manners to get a better clarity of what it has to offer.

355ml bottle at home from Good Spirits Co, Glasgow (£3.80):
This one was a really nice double IPA that went down quite well despite the fact it came in at 10% abv. & really packed a punch. Whilst not quite being a true classic of the style it was a nice effort & an interesting one to boot given the hop strain used - not that the flavour tasted particularly unique but it was at least enjoyable. A solid effort & one well worth trying but I'm not sure it'd warrant a second visit given just how strong it is.
