On the back of the label: "Enjoy By 01.19.17"

Appearance: The body is dark bronze in appearance with hints of dark orange in the light. The beer looks very transparent. The head is a fluffy, rocky, medium-sized cap with good retention.

Aroma: Pumpkin pie spice right from the get-go. It has a nice clove and cinnamon aroma with a bit of a cookie scent. I should note that even though the beer says "pumpkin IPA" on the front it doesn't have any hop aroma.

Taste: I am getting a very nice ginger flavor up front followed by some woody cedar and a nice bitter finish. It tastes great. I wasn't sure how well hops would work with pumpkin spice but it tastes like they have nailed down the right combination of flavors.

Mouthfeel: The body of the beer feels rather light. It just doesn't support the flavors well. It has this almost thin quality to it. The carbonation is good and the bitterness is good.

Overall: The overall drinking experience was very good. The flavors and aromas were just right. The only downside was the thin feeling body but as a whole the drinking experience was still very good. I would recommend that if you like bitter beers and enjoy pumpkin spice that you try this. It might be carving a very specific niche but it is doing it very well.

My first try of a pumpkin IPA....Pours into a standard pint a clear burnt orange with a full one finger clingy off white head atop.First thing that stands out and really the only thing that stands out aroma wise is pumpkin, not spice but pumpkin wich is nice, would have like a little more hop though. The body needs to beefed up a little.Dry and somewhat earthy with roasted pumpkin and mild spice, mace really stands out from the spice, again quite dry.I like the fact it's not sweet,I like that there is real pumpkin flavor, would like like more of a body though.A good concept and a decent beer.

12oz brown bottle, sample from the brewery.

Hazed reddish amber hue, good lacing all the way down. Pumpkin pie nose, some spicy herbal hop in there as well but it does not take away. This sort of reminds me of the White IPA, a spiced beer with a bit more hops in it. Does it work here, I guess but its like having your breakfast sausage near your pancakes and maple syrup. Good for the first few tastes but then after a while you want the flavors to be separate.

Pours hazy, orange-brown with 3/4 inch head. Noticeable sediment. Taste is cinnamon, clove, pumpkin pie spices with sharp citrus hops at the end. Aftertaste is slightly dry. Interesting combination, glad I tried, but I doubt I will pick this one up again.

Almost clear deep amber color with beige head. Aroma has lots of pumpkin pie notes. Baked pumpkin flesh, nutmeg, cinnamon, no real IPA notes. Taste follows with the pumpkin pie flavors but you also get earthy hops with the associated bitterness. Aftertaste lingers with grapefruit pith and nutmeg. Medium body and carbonation. A quite interesting combination, really tasty and easy to drink.

Not bad. The IPA aspect probably brings this down a bit.

L: Orange brown. Very cloudy with particles throughout. Moderate to high carbonation. Finger of head which lasts a while leaving lacing,

S: Pumpkin and spices. Not much hops.

T: Pumpkin and spices with a piney, bitter hop kick on the end.

F: Medium bodied. Some creaminess.

O: Not bad. Just not sure that the ipa works well with the pumpkin. If they had toned down some of the hops this would be a damn fine pumpkin beer.

Looks and smells nice enough. Deep amber-orange with a little oily lacing. Aroma of light pumpkin with some spice and grassy hop bitterness. Taste is more of the same. Not sure what they were going for here but I think this might be what happens when you put a cinnamon candle in a jack-o-lantern and your cat uses it as a urinal for a month. It's like they were on track to make a pretty good pumpkin beer and marketing came in and insisted they weren't meeting the IPA quota. The bitterness just doesn't belong. At all. The best I can say is that as it warmed it became more tolerable. One of the more hit-or-miss breweries I know of. I'll continue trying new things from Flying Dog because the stuff that's good is pretty damn good. But boy, the bad stuff can be really bad.

I can't find the bottling date, so age unknown. Poured into a stem glass.

Pours a hazy copper with chunks of floating sediment, and a finger of tan head.

Smells of very spicy cinnamon, (think Fireball candy) caramel, toffee, toast, and pie crust malt aromas; clove, and a tiny bit of vaguely grapefruity hoppiness.

An even balance of pumpkin spice and malt flavors, and non-specific hoppiness. You get the cinnamon, clove, and allspice, and brown sugar, caramel, and bread crust, but the sweetness is kept in check by the hops, which I like. The hops don't contribute too much flavor wise, some faint grapefruit, orange, and grass, but it balances it all it nicely. Finishes very cleanly.

The mouthfeel is medium, smooth, with moderate carbonation.

Overall, this is much better than I thought it would be. Not something I'd go out of my way to buy, but as someone who dislikes most pumpkin ales for their cloying sweetness and overbearing spices, this was a nice change of pace.

Your typical seasonal pumpkin ale. Color is a deep pumpkin with minimal head and spotty lacing. Aroma is of pumpkin pie spice and taste is decent and definitely NOT too overpowering with the dry spice. Nice that the hops are a player in this one, a good seasonal

9/30/16....pours dark murky brown with some white foam residuals. Cinnamon/nutmeg smell, pumpkin too. Slightly woodsy. Edge pumpkin bitter taste, starts sweet and then firm. Different take on a pumpkin. Tasty bitter.
