Sweet and slightly tart grapefruit throughout with subtle floral complexity added from the hibiscus. This radler is highly carbonated, crisp, clean and very easy to drink.

First rate radler (which means cyclist in German, and makes Radler the equivalent of Gatorade in EU).
A: Pours golden straw with a fizzy white head that like all fruit beers disappears quickly to nada with nada trace of lace. But a nice color.
S: Big grapefruit, floral hibiscus, saltine cracker malt. Fresh.
T: As nice a balance of floral hibiscus notes and tart, bright grapefruit as well as grainy white crackers. A light beer that works.
M: Light body, lively carbonation, fizzy to the end tho appearing flat. Asprin like finish.
O: A better fruit beer than most.

Bottle poured into a BarrelHouse Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden straw with a fizzy off white head that quickly settles out.

S: Bright grapefruit, floral hibiscus, grainy crackery malt, and a touch of sweetness.

T: Nice balance of floral notes from the hibiscus and bright grapefruit, also some slight spice, grainy crackery malt, and a touch of almost honey like sweetness.

M: Light to medium body, lively carbonation.

O: I know my bottle isn't super fresh, but it's still drinking quite well. I wouldn't mind more of this for the summer months.

Pours a hazy golden color with a very thin white head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of salt, grapefruit, hibiscus, and tart funkness. I taste the hibiscus right upfront with some tartness and a little grapefruit (not as much as you would expect). Very smooth refreshing and easy drinking beer with a citrus finish. Very good beer but, I would enjoy this beer more in the summer time. I would definitely buy again.

A: Pours a hazy slightly darker than medium golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint straw yellow highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy off-white head that quickly reduces to a small to medium sized patch of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of ruby red grapefruit juice over the top of light to moderate aromas of bready malts. Light aromas of floral/herbal hibiscus.

T: Upfront there is a slightly less than moderate flavor of bready + grainy malts with a light to moderate amount of grainy sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of ruby red grapefruit juice and light to moderate flavors of floral/herbal hibiscus. Minimal amounts of bitterness and no discernible hop presence.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Initially crisp.

O: An interesting twist on the radler with the addition of the hibiscus - easy to drink and enjoyable.

Flying Dog Brewery "Brewhouse Rarities Hibiscus Grapefruit Radler"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "...ENJOY BY: 12.07.16" and sampled on 09.15.16

Notes: Slightly hazy yellow gold body. The bright white head drops readily and leaves no lacing, but that's to be expected. Aroma of bright grapefruit. Where is the Hibiscus? Oh, it's there, you'll get it once you taste it. Light to light-medium in body with a bit of a dextrinous edge. Moderate carbonation. A "radler" mixes soda with beer, and that's what this tastes like, but with a diet grapefruit soda instead of the usual lemon-lime. Uggghhhhhh.... it's OK. At least it's not overly bitter like the Schöfferhofer Grapefruit Weizen. And the floral character of the hibiscus is nice. I could imagine drinking a few of these on a hot day, but I don't really see myself drinking any under normal beer drinking circumstances. Still, it needs to be rated as a radler so... ho-hum, it's OK.

Poured from the bottle into a Flying Dog goblet.

Fizzy off white head of two fingers, gives to snapping carbonation and a quick dissolve. No collar present, and a peach yellow to golden body sits with no carbonation. Pretty odd even for radler standards.

This is quite an odd aroma. Juiced grapefruit and big florals but also a hint of strong bile. Sweet a bit but this vomit like smell is getting in the way of the fun character. Some slight sense of bee pollen as well which seems odd.

Juiced and sweet soda grapefruit with a little more depth on first sip. Luckily the nasty aroma doesn't translate on the tongue so much. Wet finishing grapefruit and sugar. Aftertaste just barely has a faint touch of bready malt on the finish. Not much floral hints on the palate that the nose seemed to pick up before.

In the end it's another radler, but also has a bit of an off putting aroma. Leaves me pretty neutral on the entire experience.

Hazy gold, little to no head
Grapefruit, a wheat like smell, some odd tannic scent
Grapefruit, lemon, tannins, biscuit malt behind
Smooth, moderately high carbonation.

Great radler. The best ive had actually. Very well rounded. And that means something coming from a guy who opposes fruit in beer.

And id like to say i dont consider this an American pale ale. I feel its more fruit beer category. Little to no hops in this for me.
