Very Good
Notes: Brewed with Citra and Galaxy hops and fermented with a lager yeast strain, this hybrid style combines huge tropical fruit hop bitterness (typical in our favorite IPAs) with a crisp and clean lager finish.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle. Pours cloudy orange with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops, not overpowering but sweet. Tastes of smooth lager with slight piney and sweet citrus hops. Beer is light bodied and very smooth and easy drinking, nice carbonation. Overall a very good beer.

Poured from the bottle into a Libbey style pilsner glass.

Deep tangerine orange, with a bright body appearance, and slow creeping streams of pinhead carbonation. Two finger to nearly three finger tall head, with excellent classic IPA like retention, clumpy, thick chunks of hanging lace. Real nice aggressive and controlled appearances.

Deep hop angles of tropical juice, tangerines and orange zest notes on the nose. Juicy, big, slightly herbal as well. Masks much of anything else to detect but from a hop perspective it's a big winner and inviting. Slight hints of vanilla cream giving off a nice creamsicle orange sweetness which is real nice too.

Real excellent palate. Light bodied with just a faint hint of crispness on the finish, but large notes of hop juice and classic new American flavors. Juiced tangerine, a bit of tropical cantaloupe like character also. Dry crisp finish, but some of the juicy qualities really take over, with just a touch of pasty lager like yeast poking through.

It's a great hop forward character, but part of that is it takes away and buries a good portion of other lager like qualities. Still drinks real well, better than many other IPAs I've had as well in contrast too.

Appealing deep gold in color. The smell was of bitter citrus hops but it faded very quickly. Knocked my review down a few pegs due to that.

Taste is citrus and bitter peaches. The malt cuts the bitterness down a bit. It's a well balanced beer.

Taste Lingered on the roof of my mouth a long long time after a sip. Bitterness remained but not unpleasant. Very dry finish.

Might need to retry Flying Dog's offerings again after having this. It's good and I'd add this to my rotation when it's fresh. Just was missing the aroma piece. On a scale of best IPL's (Hoponious Union ) to worst (Dream Machine) this is closer to the top than the bottom in my book.

From a growler.

The beer pours a nice white and creamy head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is very good looking. It's a clear deep gold color that is very pleasing to look at. The appearance is definitely very inviting with its hue.

The smell and taste have a strong hop bitterness note but doesn't quite overwhelm the malt note. The hop note has a mix of pine and citrus notes. The malt is more of a sweet note that dulls the hops in order to make it more palatable. The malts come out stronger in the taste than in the smell, which makes it a strong improvement over the smell.

The feel is pretty good. It's lighter bodied and smooth with a fairly crisp bite at the end that could rival a Pilsner. The beer has a dry finish.

Overall, a pretty good IPL and worth getting while it's available. This could also make a pretty lawnmower beer.

Newest brewhouse rarity. Galaxy hopped India Pale Lager

Appearance: Flying Dog makes really pretty beer. This is a gorgeous, crystal clear pale orange. Huge, fluffy white head that retains a solid finger for the duration with some of the thickest lacing I've seen in awhile

Nose: Bright and pleasant. Galaxy hops show themselves well here. Hints of pale and caramel malts and lots of bright citrus, peach, and tropical fruit.

Flavor: Follows suit. Lots of peach and citrus flavors held up with a pale malt backbone with hints of caramel. Very clean. I always feel like with such a clean yeast, it should highlight the attributes of the malt and hops. This accomplishes exactly that.

Feel: Light to medium bodied. Fairly dry. Crisp and clean. Bitterness is firm but balanced.

Overall: More of this. Less of anything with sriracha or Old Bay.
