Medium gold with a decent head with medium-large bubbles. Nose is not strong, certainly more subtle than the taste but yields citrus and tropical hops. Delicious fruitiness with a tropical feel including pink grapefruit and marmalade. Medium bitterness. Medium body.

Poured from a can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Cloudy amber pour. 2 fingers of foamy white head. Great lacing.

S: Light... grainy.. mild citrus.

T/F: Grainy malts. Somewhat thin... mild citrus hops. Mild to moderate bitterness... a slight mineral quality. Herbal notes. Carbonation is on point.

O: Looks good... taste is a bit all over the place and not sure where they were going with this. Fairly high ABV for what you're getting in terms of flavor, so not terribly sessionable. Not one I'd pick again when there are much better options easily available.

This brew is missing a crucial element needed to categorize it as an IPA. Perhaps more of a lager, missing the the trademark hoppiness of an IPA. A good beer goes down easy, nice color.

Weird label. Had a golden amber color when opened and poured from a can. Had a little foamy head, which looked good. It had a very nice aroma, a nice hop infusion. The flavor was quite good with a lingering hop flavor. Would not mind having another one.

There are way better IPA's out there. Don't waste your time.

Pours a clear amber/gold into a fifteen ounce mug the same temperature as the beer. Two finger foamy head that settles rocky before quickly dissipating. Spotty lacing.

The nose is grapefruit and some grain. Touch of mint.

Flavor is surprisingly malty up front with some citrus hops. Strong malt backbone that turns into maple sweetness. Citrus. Probably grapefruit. Butter.

Thin and watery mouthfeel. Finish is sweet. Dextrin?

A decent IPA. Not one I would care to repeat.

Snake Dog IPA brewed by Flying Dog Brewery, with an ABV of 7.10% This American IPA pours out a deep golden amber color with a nice white head. There is also a nice amount of lacing to this IPA, it sticks to the side of the glass well. The smell is rich with hop bitterness, and earthly grains and malts. The smell is more milder than most IPA's, not saying that is a bad thing. So far this is one inviting brew. Now for the taste, it is bold but smooth with flavors. You pick up on the hop bitterness and the earthy grains and malts me I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down. It is really hard to pick up on the 7.10% ABV, it is just that smooth. This is one of the higher ABV IPA's I have had however it is smooth. The body is a medium to heavy, but not to heavy. There is a lot going on in Snake Dog IPA. This American IPA has a real super nice balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. The mouth feel is Bold, Clean, Smooth, Hoppy, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Snake Dog IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would look this American IPA up again givin the chance to. Flying Dog Brewery, did a super nice job with this brew. If you are looking for a high ABV brew , that goes down nice and smooth look this brew up.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a sort of glossy amber color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Slim speckled lace.
The aroma had some sweet stale grains bumping into some shapeshifting grassy to citrusy hops. They don't seem to maintain the "wanted" sweetness or bitterness. It just seemed somewhat "there."
The flavor was grainy sweet, some malts but definitely moved into the aftertaste in a grainy sweet sort of way.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a touch under with more of a sipping sort of quality about it due to the grains interjecting with a stale hop bitterness. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, not really an American or an English IPA per se, just odd and not exactly one I'd want to try again.

Got the 20th Anniversary Edition which has been tweaked quite a bit from the original. Poured the bottle into my tulip. Did not see a date, but said best by 7/27/17, drank on 6/6/2017

Look: Nice white head with very creamy appearance that dissipated pretty quickly, but reappears with minimal swirling. Beautiful hazy golden color that is almost burnt orange.

Smell: Great hop presence, with plenty of citrus coming through, as well as a piney smell. This beer smells like it is going to taste good and be super refreshing.

Taste: I had Snake Dog before that was not the 20th anniversary edition and it did not blow me away, but man is this good. Plenty of bite from the hops with enough citrus to give it some brightness, but not dominate. Nothing is super over the top, but this is just a really good, refreshing, and drinkable IPA.

Feel: Not too much carbonation, light to medium body and goes down really nice on the palate, get that bitterness, which is followed by the citrus notes.

Overall: This beer may be a go for a 6 pack from now on. Even if it isn't the best IPA I've ever had, there is nothing that is wrong with this one and the price is quite reasonable.
