Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a sort of glossy amber color with a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a moderate pace. Slim speckled lace.
The aroma had some sweet stale grains bumping into some shapeshifting grassy to citrusy hops. They don't seem to maintain the "wanted" sweetness or bitterness. It just seemed somewhat "there."
The flavor was grainy sweet, some malts but definitely moved into the aftertaste in a grainy sweet sort of way.
The mouthfeel was almost medium bodied, seemed to sit just a touch under with more of a sipping sort of quality about it due to the grains interjecting with a stale hop bitterness. Carbonation felt fine. ABV felt as projected.
Overall, not really an American or an English IPA per se, just odd and not exactly one I'd want to try again.

Got the 20th Anniversary Edition which has been tweaked quite a bit from the original. Poured the bottle into my tulip. Did not see a date, but said best by 7/27/17, drank on 6/6/2017

Look: Nice white head with very creamy appearance that dissipated pretty quickly, but reappears with minimal swirling. Beautiful hazy golden color that is almost burnt orange.

Smell: Great hop presence, with plenty of citrus coming through, as well as a piney smell. This beer smells like it is going to taste good and be super refreshing.

Taste: I had Snake Dog before that was not the 20th anniversary edition and it did not blow me away, but man is this good. Plenty of bite from the hops with enough citrus to give it some brightness, but not dominate. Nothing is super over the top, but this is just a really good, refreshing, and drinkable IPA.

Feel: Not too much carbonation, light to medium body and goes down really nice on the palate, get that bitterness, which is followed by the citrus notes.

Overall: This beer may be a go for a 6 pack from now on. Even if it isn't the best IPA I've ever had, there is nothing that is wrong with this one and the price is quite reasonable.

L: medium gold with a moderate haze under a 2" off-white foam cap with good retention.

S: moderate aromas lead by hop aromas of melon and citrus supported by moderately low levels of biscuit.

T: Hops forward flavor with sweet fruit and melon up front and light levels of spice leading to a crisp and dry finish and a moderately high bitter accent.

F: Snake Dog has a medium body and carbonation.

O: This is a well-balanced, very flavorful beer.

A-pours a clear golden, very soft copper color with an off white sudsy head with excellent retention and lacing
S-pine, orange marmalade, sugary sweetness (like pixy sticks), lemon
T-mainly resiny pine with some fruitiness, but no distinct fruits, lots of malt sweetness
M-medium bodied with average carbonation
O-not the best that I have had from flying dog, would not seek out again

Had this in a 12oz can - pours golden, carb is right, aroma is flowery with some hoppy herbal notes - not getting any fruitiness like some of the other reviewers have said. Taste is surprisingly light given the high ABV. Not overly malty - which is nice for an IPA. The bitterness is probably not a strong as it should be for the style but it makes for an easy drinking brew. Almost tastes like a session IPA or a straight pale ale. Not a bad brew - others feel differently but I think it's a solid IPA

Comes in a slightly hazy, transparent amber with a thin white head. Fairly good retention, and decent lacing.
The nose offers a big toasty, biscuity and caramel sweetness, orange marmalade, a bit of mango and papaya, green tobacco, and green onion/scallions.
The palate follows the aroma. A big candied grapefruit and orange marmalade sweetness, lots of toasted biscuit and caramel malt in the middle, hints of dried papaya, overripe mango, and apricot, and then a big stinky dankness on the finish like tobacco and green onion. Lingers moderately bitter, and slightly sweet.

355 ml can, Tesco's, Bristol - Pours clear amber with a medium white foamy head. Nice lacing. Medium carbonation. Aroma - citrus forefront - grapefruit/mandarin. Taste - Sweet, malty front, light citrus - grapefruit/orange leading to a light bitter finish with a little alcoholic warmth. Citrus in aroma but more malty in mouthfeel. Good hybrid beer for English bitter drinkers to get into American hops.
