Firstly, what is "Scottish Porter"?? It's not a style of ale, and this stuff sure isn't wearing a kilt, so I'm at a loss. Moving on...
Pours a dark brown with ruby and tan notes around the edges. No noticable head, just little wisps of foam on top. Moderate-low carbonation visible.
Smells slightly of hot chocolate, moderately of coffee, and hints of black tea as well. Trace amounts of maple syrup and diacetyl.
Taste is lots of burnt malts which partially express themselves as coffee flavor, sourness noticable throughout, and an herbal and faintly hoppy aftertaste. Slight cocoa as well. Taste is a bit weak but not extremely so, not enough to be a flaw.
The mouthfeel is not so good. Carbonation dominates the entire time it's in your mouth, and it easily overpowers the other elements with a powerful Chuck Norris-style roundhouse kick to the face and then continues down your throat, making me think I'm going to be a little gassy after this one. Ehhhh... On the bright side, if it weren't for the raging CO2, I expect this would be a pleasant quaff. It's not bad, just out of balance. Little heavy on the sour and very heavy on the bubbly.
Drinkability is average...that's all there is to say. I'd take this over Pete's Wicked, but there are plenty of others I'd rather drink. You could drink this all night I expect, but for $9/sixer, why on earth would you?

Those brown and dark red colors. Off white head 1/2". A lot more roast in the nose than I saw coming.
Taste, still more roast, coffee from the malt flavors. Nutty, caramel, toffee, coffee. Hopping is there too. A little dry finish. Not bad stuff. Assertive and bitter with all that other stuff going on. There's a bit of a scotch ale vibe going on underneath it all as well.
