Hazy orange color with off-white head. Aroma has sweet orange peel with some resiny hops. Taste follows, sweet, orangey, continues with caramel malt and finishes with orange rind bitterness. Medium body, soft carbonation. Overall it's a nice DIPA with well hidden ABV, orangey hops and caramel malts.

Aroma is spices, biscuit malts, slight tea and medium sweetness. The flavor is citrus, biscuit malts, fruit, slight sweetness and a spicy/slightly bitter finish.

12 oz. bottle, enjoy by date 12/04/16 printed on the label. Acquired the six pack of this stuff from the local bottle shop.

Poured into Flying Dog stemware #properglassware

A - Pours a nice golden honeyed orange body, with two fingers of frothy off-white head lingering on top, leaving good scattered streaks of fluffy lacing throughout. Appears adequately carbonated. Looks very nice.

S - Aromas of fruit-forward, berryish sort of hops - earthy, leafy, & grassy, with notes of sweetened caramelized bread malts. Earthy, woodsy, caramel / toffee. Appealing stuff.

T - Taste follows the nose: crisp, fruity, earthy, dank, piney, resinous hops, with good balancing sweetened caramel / toffee flavored malt base.

M - Feel is smooth, crisp, clean. Easy-drinking stuff, medium-bodied, with good carb. Easy to drink for the moderate abv.

Overall, the Nugget hop wins this one over well.

Flying Dog Single Hop Series Nugget Imperial IPA -----4/5.

-Enjoy by 12.04.16. Consumed 08.22.16 in spiegelau ipa glass.

A: Pumpkin orange with a good rate of clarity, soft and spacious rise of effervesce. Dirty egg shell white head is thin and frothy, and only moderately retaining. Minimal amount of lace coverage.

S: Pleasantly fruity aroma, herbal oranges, soft lemon hops against pale grains. Touch of fruitiness, minty, herbal orange upfront finishing with some herbal hops and an almost soft peppery spicing.

T: Earthy herbal hops, dried parsley, crisp pale malts with a nice lingering finish of herbal pepper.

M: Crisp mouthful, medium body, warming peppery herbal spicing on inner cheeks.

O: A nice change up with the nugget hops bringing a nice herbal flavor profile with background nuances of oranges, fresh herbs and pepper. 8.0% drinks much easier.

A: [3.50] Bottle lists the ABV (8.0%) and there is a clear best by date of (12.04.2016). Very transparent pale yellow color. The beer looks a bit like a macro lager but is saved by a finger of pillowy white head that forms noce arcs of lacing on the glass.

S: [2.75] Very minimal nose. Mild apple and crackers. REALLY mild. I keep sniffing and nothing more happens.

T: [2.75] Caramel, toffee and then bitter. No added flavor just bitter sensation.

M: [2.75] Smooth mouthfeel with nice carbonation. The bitter flavor lingers on the palate.

O: [2.75] This might be one of the least sensory stimulating beers I have had. It has almost no odor or taste. It is zero dimensional. I assume the December expiration means that it was bottle in June and they believe their beer can last 6 months (all supposition). But if that is true this is just 3 months old and it is totally faded or was never good to begin with. Either way I don't like this beer. It has nothing positive about it.

A: Pours a golden color with 2 fingers of head that slowly fades down to a nice cap that leaves some sticky lacing

S: Lots of spicy and herbal hops up front with some lighter grassy and fruity notes in there as well. Malt holds up well and adds a light sweetness and bready notes

T: Follows the nose. Starts off with the herbal hop notes and slowly goes into the spiciness and bready malt notes. Sweetness comes in to even the playing field. Finishes with lingering herbal hop notes and a very light sweetness

M: Medium bodied with moderate carbonation

O: A very nice single-hop beer that really highlights the nugget hops. Quite drinkable for 8% with enough umph to keep you coming back flavor-wise

ours golden amber (SRM 7) with a slight haze under a 2" light cream colored foam collar that takes 6 minutes to driop to a thick film as continuous streams fo bubbles quickly rise from the bottom of the glass. The beef clears as it warms. Single Hop Nugget has an initial spicy earthiness on the nose that grows peach like with traces of plum. It has a very creamy palate with peach, bread crumb, and a light sweetness that pulls out the peach flavors. The fruit flavors are medium to medium high and the malt flavors are medium. An assertive but not harsh bitterness lightly sweetened by alcohol seasons and balances the malt. Very well balanced. The body is medium and the carbonation is very soft and creamy and its intensity is medium. A very flavorful and satisfying peachy bitter beer.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into IPA glass.

Look is slightly hazy deep gold color with minimal head and light lacing.

Aroma is dank and piney with hints of citrus.

Medium mouthfeel with moderate carbonation.

Taste is a nugget hop bomb. Not enough malt to balance. Nugget, nugget, and more nugget. Hop flavor hides the booze. Kind of a 1 trick pony.

Overall, an ok beer but really one dimensional.
