Appearance is clear golden with a quickly disappearing white head that leaves no lacing.
Smell is very faint, almost undetectable.
Taste is like dilute ricewater, starch with a bit of malt. Not many hops, not much balance. Even considering that the style is not intended to have massive malt or massive hops, the flavor of this one is so subtle that I think I missed it entirely. Slight malty finish.
Mouthfeel is very light and watery.
Drain pour.

Came in a Flying Dog sampler. I didn't care for the label with the sophomoric humor about the stupid dog or the bloody dog (if that's what it's supposed to be) being run over by the bicycle as it bites the tire. But hey, that's just me. YMMV

Poured into a Sierra Nevada becker. A couple of inches of foamy head faded right away leaving a film over the top and no lacing. The beer is golden and transparent.

The aroma is of herbal hops and grain. The taste is grainy like an adjunct macro lager, very thin, but not awful by any means. I've had much worse tasting brews. The mouth feel is crisp, thin and refreshing due to the high carbonation.

This might appeal to me after cutting the grass in the middle of an August day in Atlanta. With 5 inches of snow on the ground it's not very drinkable. A poor choice for a sampler sold in winter. Most of it will be poured down the drain. Life's too short and all that kind of stuff. Sorry, just not a beer that appeals to me.

12oz bottle poured into a Pilsner glass, I dont own any Kolsch style glass, figured its better than a normal pint.Pour revealed a pale straw color body with a small white head which quickly dissipated and left some very light lacing behind.
Smell was faint, sweet musty cereals and a hint of the hops.
Taste again is sweet malts, grainy, very light hops and a trace of other floral notes. A little too sweet for me.
Mouthfeel is watery and light, nice amount of carbonation.
Overall, not a terrible brew but tastes too much like much cheaper lawnmower brews, better options to be had. One is enough.

pours a clear golden yellow with a good bit of carbonation and lots of fluffy head. much to my dismay this beer had a huge lack or just about everything. not much flavor at all. to be honest if it was between this beer and a coor light i'd probably go with the latter of the two.

Eh.

A: Bottle, pours just like a macro lager.

S: Slightly skunky, grainy. Macro smell.

T: Very bitter. And not a "good" bitter, like a hoppy bitter. Can't place the bitterness, but, it is nasty. Nothing stands out, except a bit of a salty finish.

M/D: Not good, first drain pour in several months.

12oz bottle, served in a SA Perfect Pint glass

A - pours with a very small amount of loose white foam...beer is very bright gold-yellowish.

S - crackery malt, some lemon zest, odd bit of yeast-like funkiness...lack of hops.

T - clean (see, boring) with a weird lemony tartness which distracts from any sort of hops that may be hidden. finishes with a bit of malty biscuits.

M - light watery body, carbonation is present but falls off quickly, leaving you with a mouth full of weird tasting lemon beer.

D - no thanks. dont call this a kolsch...shandy would be more appropriate.

I picked up this single 12oz brown bottle from the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL as part pf a build-your-own six pack for $9.99. No freshness date.

The beer poured a clear pale gold color and made a 1-finger white head, but the head dissipated in less than 10 seconds and it left absolutely zero lacing. Not an impressive start.

Upon opening the bottle a bit of skunkiness came out, but thankfully it didn't last long. It is also unfortunate that there wasn't much there after the skunkiness dissipated. All I got was a touch of grain and a bit of mustiness.

This beer is really bland without much of anything noteworthy. It has a very light graininess to it along with very light fruitiness (grapey). Mild herbal hops with a corresponding mild bitterness round out what flavor there is.

Light and dry mouthfeel with good carbonation.

I'm a fan of Kolsch's, but really didn't enjoy this one. Bland and unexciting.

In the sampler pack..

Poured a pale golden with about a finger or bubbly white head, head retention was bad, lasting only a minute or so before dissapating.

Smells of light malt and water, nothing special here.

Taste is rather bland. Light malt with a water backbone, not alot of flavor.

Mouthfeel is really the best part. Light and crisp, the beer feels nice in your mouth. If it had a better flavor, it would be great.

Drinkability is low. I'm glad I got this in the sampler because once I'm done with it, I'm not drinking another.

Meh. Now, I'll admit that the Kolsch style is an unfamiliar one to me. Still, this looks, smells and drinks like a dolled-up Bud. Appearance is lackluster, clear and piss (not golden) yellow. Feeble, airy lilly-white head acts tough but retreats by the third sip. Smell is akin to many a macro brew, but with a slightly sweeter malt note and a citrusy tang that really doesn't belong. Taste is similarly disappointing, starting off somewhat crisp and dry before becoming altogether too sweet and reminiscent of Coors/Bud. Mouthfeel is nothing to write home about. Has body that barely surpasses Coors/Bud in complexity. Drinkability is fine, except for the utter lack of flavor. Still, there is a refreshing quality that saves this brew from a straight 2.0. I paid 7.39 for a sixer of this? These folks ought to be ashamed.

A - Light golden color, very thin head.
S - Mostly grass and citrus; some hops but very faint
T - Thin and watery. I was expecting a bit more character. Grassy at first with some hops; very bland finish
M- Crisp with good carbonation. Nice on a hot day
O- Unimpressive. Very close to an adjunct at micro prices. My first Flying Dog beer, and unless convinced otherwise by your ratings, maybe my last.

The appearance is entirely uninviting. Fizzy head quickly pops to no-mans-land never to be seen again. The body of this beer is between yellow and clear with slow rolling lifeless carbonation. It just looks limp and tired.

Not much in the taste. Faint hops are forgettable. Grain bill is the mainstay in this offering. Rather sweet with some corn flakes cereal in there as well. Nothing really offensive but really "Nothing" is a good way to describe the taste.

Notes: No need to beat a dead horse. Drinkable? yeah. Enjoyable? ehh not really. One and done.

Appearance: Poured a clear golden color, with plenty of visible color. Two finger white foamy head with decent retention. Moderate lacing.

Smell: Roasted malts, with adjunct smells as well. Bitter. Not much sweetness at all.

Taste: Very similar to the taste: roasted adjunct malts. Medium sweetness. Long lasting bitter flavors.

Mouthfeel: Thin to medium bodied, without much bite.

Drinkability: Not quite the golden ale I thought it was going to be. Overly malty, with bitter adjunct flavors dominating everywhere. Decent looking, but falls flat everywhere else.

Buy Again? No.

I'll have to say that I was a little disappointed with this beer before I even took a sip becasue of its lack of aroma. None-the-less, it poured a pale golden color with perfect clarity and a full three fingers of fluffy white head. Not bad so far ... but the aroma was ... almost absent. Only faint grain and floral notes and I do mean faint.

The flavor pretty much matched the aroma. Not much there. Slight grain and malt with little to no hop floral present. Not much else to say here except that the flavor, or lack thereof, was a real let down.

The mouthfeel was thin and watery with little to no carbonation on the palate to vilvn the experience. As a result my drinkability score is low. Who wants to drink high priced water?

Overall a very poor beer given some of Flying Dogs other flavorful brews. Pretty disappointing. I would not recommend this beer.

Pours a pale golden color with a head that leaves asking where did it go? Lacing stuck around just long enough to say Hi.

A musty earth smell to it, with light hints of citrus. A very bland taste with mostly grain and no hoppy's. Bitter afterwards. A dissapointing attempt at a kolsch style beer. It was worth the try, and I will try their other styles, but will not buy this one again.

Overall, it tasted more like the golden water from a dog.

A: The color is that of most macro brews, thin straw in color. Rapidly dissipating head, no lacing. If I had been told it was Budweiser/Coors/Miller, I would believe it.

S: Grains, corn etc. Not intriguing.

T: See smell.

M: Bout the only good part of the beer. Moderate body, crisp, no carbonation.

A big let down after trying many of the other Flying Dog beers recently. Pours a yellow-gold with a white head, but the taste is an unexpected disaster that slimes through your mouth. The taste is undistinct and familiar to cheaper, less-exciting ales. With the many choices Flying Dog provides us, try to choose anyone of theirs but this one. On a positive note, the label for tire bite is one of the best Steadman has done for this company so at least pick up a bottle and enjoy the artwork.

Poured from a bottle into the sam adams pint glass

A-Golden yellow and fizzy little to no head with no lace.

S-I'll be honest i thought i had opened a bud light or the like very grainy with very little hop presence.

T-Light and crisp but not much to do here it tastes way to much like an american mass prduced brew.

M-The carbonation level is good but leaves that near salty taste when the beer finishes

D-no thanks i'll drink this one but i dont belive i'll be buying this one again i stoppped drinking stuff like this a long time ago, their other beers are much better.

Pours a typical pale lager, sorry -- ale -- color. Weak aroma, almost nothing on the nose. Taste is decent, very light but not watery, but almost nothing there aside from malt. I can definitely say that I'm not a huge fan of kolschs at this point. Leave it.

Pours an extremely clear, straw golden color with a decent foamy head which retains well. Smells of cereal grains, light, grassy hops...almost like a budweiser. Tastes like a budweiser too but with a lot better mouthfeel and body. Some yeasty notes and maybe a slight lemon zest is noticeable. Not much else to speak of. Pretty boring in my opinion. I'd grab a Narragansett.

The Tire Bite stood out from first whif...the aroma was pungently sour. I didn't think you could smell sour, but this beer managed to do it. The taste was pretty light, offering some hints of hops. Not hop like you'd expect from an IPA, but enough to warrant that sour smell (only 16 IBUs). I had this when I was really hot after working in the yard and it went down really quick. I had another one when I wasn't hot and I wasn't terribly impressed. This is definitely a summer beer, so if you're going to be sitting on the patio getting some rays, not a bad pick. If you're going to sit inside in the A/C, go for something else. While this was a good enough beer, it's lack of "versitility" brings down its score a bit.

Bottle courtesy of Okbeer: Poured an yellow color beer with a small white bubbly head with minimal retention. Aroma of gross malt is dominating and not really enticing. Taste is similar to raw malt with some subtle cardboard in the back. Body is light with some low carbonation. I think something went wrong here but this is definitely not something I would like to try again.

Pours pale yellow, with a tiny head that quickly gets swallowed up and tons of carbonation, looks like seltzer! Smells like corona with a lime, that is scary but what the hell, bottoms up...and tastes like it smells, there are hints of sweetness, and again the lime citrus, and is a bit dry on the back, but...oh nevermind just not all that good and we will leave it at that. Goes down real easy, and is a good chugger...why am I drinking this, where is my dfh?

Appearance has a light yellow color with no head but has steady carbonation
Smell doesnt conjure anything significant, not very aromatic but does have a slight floral scent.
Mild watery taste with very light hop taste, that even my wife the great hop hater can enjoy! Slightly more tasteful than a Miller Lite.
Good carbonation thats light and impactful at first but quickly fizzles out.
Overall not to impressed with this one, dont think i will be going out of my way to get another. Would put this above many American Light Ales though.

Poured from a bottle into a glass.

Poured a light slightly golden yellow, it was a bit foggy with no head and no lacing.

Little to no smell, if anything some grain and malt.

Taste was quite bland, thin, and crisp. Heavy taste of grain and ending with a slight taste of hops.

Could drink a few of these, but won't buy again.
