Originally released as Agave Cerveza in the summer of 2014 as part of our Brewhouse Rarities program, it’s the artisanal answer to the easy-drinking, south-of-the-border slammers the younger versions of ourselves knew and loved.

Flaked maize makes up one third of the malt bill and highlights the distinctive corn and cracker flavor traditionally found in Mexican lagers. Agave is added at the end of the boil and the lime peel post-fermentation to impart a distinct, zesty character and a crisp, clean finish. Your new Summer Cerveza clocks in at 4.9% ABV.

This one pours a basically clear golden yellow color, with a fluffy head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like wheat, lime, lemon, and grassy hops.

This is pretty solid. It’s easy drinking, very light in flavor, with just a touch of lime peel, not adding any tartness. There’s a crisp wheaty and bready thing going on, with a just a touch of hop character.

This is light bodied, and super drinkable, with a clean feel to it.

I’m not sure this really replaces something like Modelo in my heart, but it’s solid enough.

Crystal clear bright yellow with lots of spinning carbonation feeding a 1.5 finger head of soft white foam that sticks around for a good long while. Classic looking beer. Some light floral and perfumey notes highlight a pleasant nose, some white bread notes backing them. Flavors add on some slight tropical fruit notes to the floral ones. The malt is light and clean, leading into a clean and a not-too-crisp finish. Just crisp enough to be refreshing when taken with all the other light elements. Certainly not a flavor bomb but actually some very refined flavors come through, especially when comparing this to the other big market Mexican lagers out there. Flying Dog definitely has done this better than them.

Crystal clear in the body, with a cheery golden color, and entirely without head. Nose is cereals and a hint of lime. Flavor is grainy with a touch of something that could be agave. The texture is a bit heavier maybe than Iwould prefer but otherwise, this is more or less what it aims to be: bland, crushable summer lager. Decent for the style, but no more.

Bit of a thin body with medium carbonation
Aroma is lime, lime peel, malt citrus cereal and grain
Taste for the most part followed the aroma. Not a mind blowing beer but a safe bet to go along with Mexican food or other summer food

Clear yellow colored beer with a medium sized white colored head.

Smells of yeast and lime. Floral scent like Hibiscus, I assume that is the agave. Truth is it isn't that aromatic.

Starts out yeasty and slightly sweet. Taste of lime and a slight citrus sourness. Something like corona with a lime in it. Slight floral taste, assumes that is the agave.

Mouthfeel is average.

Overall this is a beer you will drink and forget.
