355 ml bottle, as Flying Dog In-Heat Wheat Hfeweizen, courtesy of Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Also available in some Norwegian grocery stores. Hazy pale golden colour, big white head. Typical hefeweizen aroma of ripe bananas and cloves. The flavour also has notes of ripe bananas and cloves, medium sweet, soft mouthfeel, very drinkable, low bitterness. A good hefeweizen - no more, no less.

12 oz bottle. Hazy yellow, medium frothy white head. Aroma is as expected; banana, clove, spices, wheat. Light to medium body, some spice and sweetness initially.

This is pretty much a beer that is average in every category. Yellow, average degree of haze, 1/4" white head. Aroma dropped a bunch of spice rack and clove. Some banana too.

Taste imparted a tiny amount of lemon on top of the spice rack and yeast effect. Heavy carbonation. For me it was too light on the wheat, and too heavy on the yeast and spice rack notes.

Listed in the "1001", this beer should be there as it was one of the first hefe in the U.S. and its brewmaster was student and wrote a book on German wheats in 1992. First released as In-Heat Wheat, I think Flying Dog should change the label, too.
Focus less on the weird artwork as the point is for normal people to enjoy wheat beers as a summer option.
This looks and tastes like a classic hefe, but in the mouth the spices and cloves penetrate yet stay balanced.
This could become an American classic among wheat-appreciators.... if they change the label !

Very cloudy golden body, white coarse head, lazy ambient carbonation. Nose has banana and clove, also a fair amount of somewhat sweet orange citrus. Taste is also strong with the classic duo of flavors, with the quenching citrus not affecting the flavor too much but adding decent acidity on the finish. Body is too light and fluid for my preference of a creamy hefeweizen, but it does make it drinkable and perhaps a bit more refreshing.
Adding a considerable presence of citrus provided a new and favorable approach to the hefeweizen style, but the lack of body and fizzy head was a step down. All in all a decent beer.

Hazy golden color with a thin white head. Smells bready, with hints of citrus fruit. Taste is similar, more like a wheat beer than a traditional hefe...I didn't get any of the traditional banana and clove flavors, just wheat, lemon, and orange. Feels a little thin but with good carbonation. I liked this take on the style and found it refreshing, although purists might take issue with some of the flavors. Overall, not a bad beer and I would definitely enjoy another.

Sampled back when it was called In Heat Wheat...Looks and smells like a hefeweizen, even had some sediment to swirl in the bottom of the bottle. Taste seems a little off to me, some citrusy notes, but not the usual banana/ bubblegum of the German varieities. I’d go German over this any day....
