Excited for this one should be quite bitter since it's made with a rather dark chocolate.
Decent color for a milk stout fairly dark with some ruby hues to the base. Mocha foam just a 1/4 inch from a light pour sticks around for a bit. Smell is somewhat boring has some coffee malts and bitter sugars but nothing really stands out. Taste is again smooth and somewhat bitter but i can't say I taste much dark chocolate in a way though it's a smooth milk stout. Body is light and creamy easy to crush.

In a way I love its a simple chocolate stout that is smooth and easy to crush. Would buy a six pack if made again.

DATE: January 4, 2017... OCCASION: a snow day! crazy wind and sideways snow calls for a thick dessertif... GLASSWARE: Samuel Smith pint... pours a dark black, opaque body that sports a thick, off-white to brown head of reasonably thick, foamy head... lacing is coral and thickening, with substantial smears across the top... heavy lactic intake, with the creaminess of chocolate milk the dominant trait... roasted coffee and light toffee make for an intriguing aroma... sips with a thick, medium-bodied, roasted finish... tangible, sweet but not off-putting... milky, substantial, and suggesting something of an oatmeal stout's graininess... nice return at the start--dry and flavorful, with a gritty texture adding to its late-night suitability... the roasted coffee makes this a standout--the chocolate isn't much different from others of this genre...

It is the occasion of Merry New Christmas (Eve) Beer Sunday (Week 670) & this is my opening salvo for today's festivities that I anticipate lasting well into the morrow!

From the bottle: "Inspired by Salazón Dark Chocolate"; "Chocolate - because Lord knows the world doesn't need another fruitcake."; "This Chocolate Milk Stout takes inspiration and ingredients directly from our friends at Salazón Chocolate Co. Roamers of the earth, pioneers of salted chocolate."

Having Pop!ped the cap, I debated on my course of action & decided on a heavy-handed pour that created both a pseudo-cascade as well as three-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, light-tan head with good retention that left some nice lacing behind. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44) with mahogany highlights. Nose smelled of chocolate, but not sweet or even bittersweet chocolate - more like baker's chocolate. Hmm. Mouthfeel was medium, a little light for a Stout. The taste had a light smokiness and a distinct chocolatiness, but again, not sweet. It was definitely of dark chocolate, but I was not getting the sweetness usually imparted by lactose. Finish was semi-dry, not semi-sweet, but then that presents a problem when reviewing to style. There was nothing wrong with the beer, but it just was not a shining example of a Milk Stout. YMMV.
