Poured black with reddish-brown hints on the perimeter when held up to light. A slight light tan foam head exists that settled down to a lacy layer over a few minutes. A scent of cold brewed coffee comes across, along with a lighter sweet mocha/espresso scent. Taste starts with a decent blend between coffee and mocha while the cold brewed coffee flavor increases throughout the sip. Feel is silky, smooth, balanced, and medium bodied. Really a very impressive job to combine what is usually a harsher flavor into something that is so drinkable and approachable. Would recommend!

A six-pack (over 2-weeks) fm Eddie's of Mount Vernon here in Baltimore. Best by 02/29/20. Lovely to look at, with a nice mocha nose - a VERY solid coffee porter. Don't let the brewers writeup scare you off - this is a "Good Dog"

Really love this beer when they made it an imperial Porter at 8% but dialing it back to 6% it is quite good with a deep roast coffee flavor and taste. Love everything about this beer the color the foam the smell and mostly the taste. Full of deep roast flavorful bitter coffee yet so sweet and balanced.

May have to actually look for a case of this stuff because it's about as tasty breakfast Stout but just a touch less ABV

Draught @ Beer Temple. Pours a black color and a beige head. Aroma's of coffee, roasted and sweetish. Retronasal it's full on roasted coffee. Flavor is light sweet and a little coffee-sourish. Light bodied. Short finish.

Poured opaque black with a two finger frothy tan head that lingered resulting in a nice film for the rest of the session. Moderate lacing. Nose of pronounced good coffee followed by a rich dark chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, vanilla and a light bitter hoppiness on the finish. Creamy medium light body and light carbonation. I was not expecting this to be so good. Well done Flying Dog!

Dark co!ored co!a like appearance. Had about 3/4 " head that dissipated pretty quick, spotty lacing. Aroma is prominently coffee and taste follows the nose. Has good balance of sweetness and faint bitterness. If you like to drink coffee black, this beer may appeal to you. $ 7.99 + tax for 6 pk bottles. Will buy again.

I poured Kujo Cold Brew Coffee Porter into my Founders glass which left a Guinness like brownish one finger head. Beer is pretty dark colored.

On the nose, the aromas of cold brew coffee are overwhelming.

Following the nose, the taste is super rich of vanilla, sweet chocolate and some cocoa. Very tasty and refreshing for a 6% American porter.

Overall: a very good and pleasant surprise. Flying dog sometimes takes more crap than it deserve, for the price tag, this beer is pretty much the right deal and I dare say compete even with Founders or SN porter just to name two well known other beers in this style.

A: A rich and dark mahogany pour has an equally beautiful tan head, 1.5inches, with a lengthy retention. A thin and encompassing bronze ring encircles the vessel. A good amount of micro-effervesce beads upwards at a quick pace. Very nice coloring and topping, cold coffee like pour.

S: Rich chocolate, fresh espresso along with sweet cocoa and tons of rich creamy vanilla. Really good sense of cold chocolate and marshmallow with an outstanding finish or earthy charred wood, and bakers chocolate upon warming.

T: Rich sweet chocolate flavor, vanilla, along with some cocoa powder and dry marshmallow. Smooth cold press coffee, earthy dried chocolate bean bitterness very smooth.

M: Very good carbonation activity upon first sip, micro-bubble texture with a full and creamy, milky feel of medium body. Soft feel.

O: Rich flavor chocolate, cold press coffee and marshmallow with a comfortable drinking 6.0% abv. A good flavor spike comes mid-sip, with a lingering sweet and dry finish of roasted beans and chocolate. A huge flavorful porter that borders on stout like proportions.

Appearance: With a nice bubble show, the khaki head builds to two fingers before fading to one - splashy lacing; the liquid is dark and cola colored

Smell: Cold brew coffee aromatics

Taste: A hint of chocolate and then the coffee emerges, fruity and somewhat nutty; after the swallow, the sweeter chocolate and vanilla elements drive home the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Easy to drink and enjoyable but remember, this is not anything like a thick imperial coffee stout

Flying Dog Brewery "Kujo Cold Brew Coffee Porter"
12 fl. oz. brown glass bottle, "FOR OPTIMAL FRESHNESS ENJOY BY: 02.15.19B
$1.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ

Look: A massive head of tan rises up over an opaque brown-black body. Only a glimmer of dark mahogany brown makes it through at the base of the glass when held to the light. Excellent head retention and lacing.

Smell: Medium roast coffee beans backed by dark chocolate.

Taste: As the aroma suggests but with more chocolate. It's coffee upfront and chocolate in the back. There's some subtle fruitiness underneath. Not too roasty, or acidic in any way. Nicely balanced by a median bitterness, it finishes dry with mocha coffee lingering.

Feel: Medium bodied, creamy and smooth.

Overall: Quite nice. It's not the boldest coffee aroma or flavor but it's very nicely balanced.

Had on nitro at Lures Bar & Grille. This is surprisingly light-colored and the flavor is fairly watery. It has some decent coffee and dark malt flavors but overall it just needs more oomph.

Dark brown very nearly black colored beer with a medium sized brown colored head.

Smells of coffee from a distance. Charred malt and a wisp of smoke. Malty with quite a bit of caramel. Sent of dark chocolate. Coffee is a lighter roast with quite a few wine scents. This coffee smells distinctly like Kona.

Starts out Mildly sweet and notably bitter with a chocolate and berries after taste. Medium bitterness like black coffee and not beer. Lots of unsweetened chocolate taste. Bright fruit and wine notes, if this isn't Kona it knows where it lives. Not that sweet, a good coffee beer.

Mouthfeel is full but not thick.

Very tasty coffee beer. Especially recommended if you prefer a drier example.

12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

L---Impenetrable dark brown color. Thick, light brown head that faded quickly to a cap and left basically no lacing.

S---Deep, rich coffee aroma. Actually smells more like coffee grounds than anything else.

T---Tastes more like watered down coffee than beer. The coffee is absolutely dominant.

F---Lighter than this extreme level of coffee would lead one to expect. Well carbonated.

O---A good coffee beer. Wifey (who likes porters and coffee beers) approves. I'd definitely get this one again. It's nice when a brewer follows through on what's advertised.

12oz bottle, Enjoy by 02.15.19. Foamy tan head slowly fades into a thin layer atop a near black ale. Coffee and dark malt aroma. Balanced flavors of creamed coffee, chocolate, mild roast, vanilla, and earthy hops. Medium body, ample carbonation, excellently balanced finish. It's been a long time since I had a Flying Dog, and this was just as good as most I've had in the past.

It pours nearly pitch-black (key word: nearly), and has a tall, foamy, khaki-colored head. If y'all love a coffee-forward beer, y'all will also love the way this one smells. Nuanced, roasty, nutty coffee is the name of the day here. The only thing is, this smells like (good) coffee with a splash of porter, rather than a perfectly balanced marriage of coffee and beer. After tasting it, however, that isn't an entirely fair thing to say...but it's a mostly fair thing to say. I enjoy that slight surge of nutty, cream-like sweetness in the middle, mostly because it helps to balance the huge coffee notes. Still, just like the aroma seemingly suggested: this is coffee with a small splash of porter. I also think the mouthfeel is a bit too dinky, and lacking a creamy softness that I wanted. On the other hand, it's light on its feet and quite easygoing. Carbonation is high. Man, would I drink the hell out of this before work if it didn't contain alcohol and I wasn't wary of catching a DUI like a total fool. But the fact is, it's closer to a fun coffee-related novelty than a world-class porter. I still think coffee lovers should check this one out.

3.3/5: Another coffee porter that's more coffee than porter

To my taste, this is a simple tasting beer lacking in complex flavors. It taste like coffee water that’s highly carbonated. I’ll pass on this one.

DATE: October 12, 2018... OCCASION: celebrating Michael's 10th birthday with Jurassic Park II and a nice nightcap to the first cold night in a while... pours a jet-black body that supports a creamy, low-hanging brown head... first scent is welcoming jolt of grainy morning, its chocolate a wondrous accompaniment, full of thick marshmallow and sweet sugars... quite aromatic, and arresting... first sip is creamy, lush and fulfilling---more than its 6% ABV suggests... smooth and satisfying, balanced and lingering in its aftertaste.. what a satisfying sip this is, with a cream-like sweetness and a coffee bean baseness that conjures vanilla, some nuttiness, and cola draw at its finish... this is a beer worth nurturing, though its drinkability encourages a swift drain... nice work from Flying Dog...

From the 12 oz bottle and enjoyed in a snifter. This rather nice porter
pours a deep dark brownish black with cola highlights and a thick head of
khaki foam that subsides to a thick ring, thin light pool, and displays some
nice sudsy lacing. Nose of heavy coffee with a touch of char and earthy malts.
Flavors follow the nose with a moderately bitter coffee note with light nuances
of vanilla and char that are beaten to death by the coffee onslaught. Decent mouth
feel; medium full body, medium light carbonation, and a bitter coffee and bitter malt
finish that is moderately dry on the finish.

Overall a solid brew that is nice but is a touch on dimensional.

Cheers
