Well for an IPA marked offensive it's not so much an assault on the palette for either the taste or smell. A very tasty well-rounded IPA that I'm actually kind of sad that I waited so long to drink as it's just 2 days to expiration date. Still stands the test of time and it drinks quite well. High regards!

Fella at the beer store said this was more of an older-school IPA, since he knows I'm burned out on fruit juice-flavored beer and, beside, that kind of tropical stuff just doesn't make sense in the winter. And, heck, Flying Dog is underrated.

This pours like a cross between a pale bodied American IPA and a bright euro lager. Which is to say that it's pale for the style, though not exceptionally so, with a white head and some pleasantly aggressive fizz.

Smell is a citrusy, piney hop profile in which the simcoe borderline overwhelms the galaxy and citra, although the fruitier hops do a good job of muting the "cat pee" sharpness of the simcoe. This comes against an unconventional grain bill, which is pleasantly sharp with some mineral hints.

Tastes quite good. Rounded, with firm and tangy hops, giving way a crisp grainbill that tastes surprisingly old world. Citrus, pine, and flowers in the start, moving into a dry middle and a lightly sweet finish, where the citra shines every so slightly.

Bottle poured into a Mountain Rambler Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy eggshell white head that settles to a light layer and laces nicely.

S: Grassy, pine, floral notes, citrus, tropical fruit, crackery slightly biscuity malt, and a touch of caramel sweetness.

T: Resinous pine, grassy, floral, citrus, tangerine, lemon, lime, and grapefruit, tropical and stone fruit, peach, apricot, mango, and passion fruit, crackery malt, and just a touch of sweetness.

M: Medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Doesn't necessarily stand out like the name implies it might, but also doesn't disappoint. Pretty solid straight forward IPA.

12oz bottle into a pint glass at Hucklebucks tonight. Enjoy by 11/18/19, so plenty fresh.

Looks nice in the glass. Pretty clear yellow body with a decent white head which retains in a lesser form throughout leaving nice lacing initially.

Hard to get much of an aroma, but a little sweet and a little fruity.

Really well balanced offering. All flavors, fruit, hops, and malt are pretty subdued, but the overall taste is very pleasing to this particular palate.

Mouth around medium, finish leans more towards the malt than the hop.

Overall, one of the better of Flying Dog's recent offerings. Would happily get again. Really well balanced and extremely drinkable. A little above sessionable at 6.6abv, but the alcohol is well hidden.

2nd review of Offensive. Dislike the name, like the effort.
A) From Wegmans' make-a-pack, 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours deep golden clarity topped with white head that laces and lasts nicely.
S) Aromas are sligtly soapy, with perfumey florals, and lighter tropical notes.
T) Follows nose, bigger profile, still a bit soapy mars it from a 4. A blend of grass, tropical and citrus fruits. More bread
F) Good weight and mouth feel.
O) Overall, great beer and did not find the offense.

Enjoy by 11/18/19. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with great clarity and transparency with bubbles racing upwards; eggshell white head that fades leaving nice retention and sticky lacing. The aromas are subtle with some floral and tropical notes. Some citrus notes along with some bread and crackers. Malts are there. The flavors are clean and refreshing. Subtle blend of tropical and citrus fruits. More bread and crackers. Lots of fresh grass. Moderate bitterness. Malts do their thing without dominating. Alcohol goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is very nice. It's on the lighter side of medium-bodied with active carbonation. It's sharp, fluffy, smooth and easy to drink.

This is a solid IPA. It might not be anything super crazy, but it's simply enjoyable stuff. It's clean, crisp and refreshing. It's more or less what you would expect from an IPA by Flying Dog. Not bad at all.
