Looks fine. Foggy copper color with a half finger of heard that dissolves quickly, just a hint of lacing. Nose is strong sweetness. Candy and dried fruit. Flavor is similar, if a little milder. More subtle sweetness, some earthy funk and dirty malt to it. A bit of that Belgian saison funky sweet to it, but odd. Body is medium, surprisingly full, good for the style. I like it, but it’s frankly really weird. Doesn’t taste like a traditional saison, and I almost wouldn’t define it as such. But also not a hoppy brew in any sort of clear way. I’m confused, but I’m open to it as a fairly drinkable brew.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass

Appearance: Pours a very pale, golden color with three fingers of a very white head that slowly dissolved into a thin lacing of foam that completely covered the top of the beer. Actually, I’m more than a little surprised at this beer’s appearance. It looks much more like a BMC beer than a higher quality craft beer.

Aroma: Very floral. Lots of clover, freshly cut grass and pine up front. Some faint notes of malt and freshly baked sourdough bread. Not much in the way of hops, however.

Taste: Pretty good. Like the aroma, it’s very floral. Very hoppy up front, but without being overly bitter. There’s some faint malt flavor, followed by some citrus and caramel-like sweetness, finished by more hops.

Mouthfeel: Slightly thin to almost medium. With an ABV of 5.5%, there’s absolutely no presence of alcohol on the palate.

Overall: Despite the beer’s appearance, which I stated above looks much more like a BMC beer than a higher quality craft beer, this is a very good, solid, session beer. It has a some strong flavors and a nice balance between hops and sweet. This is one beer that can’t be judged by its appearance!
