A-Translucent yellow, three finger fluffy white head, well carbonated

S-Spices, grass, yeast, hops are slightly there.

T-Some spice, grassy notes, but the hops/bitterness are not present at all.

M-Light, well carbonated, crisp.

O-Raging Bitch was great, this isn't. It is suppose to be a Belgian IPA but I didn't get any IPA(hop) notes.

S: Grassy with some floral notes, citrus in the background. Some additional spiciness.

L: Crystal clear golden yellow, white, effervescent, creamy head. Solid lacing and retention.

T: Slightly grassy malt with a prominent spicy hoppiness. Medium hoppiness with loads of green peppercorns. Fairly dry finish, spicy hoppiness lingers.

M: Medium high carbonation, medium body.

Like Raging Bitch, but with a more saison style. Not bad, but i think i prefer Raging Bitch.

12oz bottle poured into a pint

Pours a golden yellow with an orange core. A fluffy bone white cap rises two+ fingers and recedes slowly. Some dots and lines of lace left behind.

The aroma is of spicy phenols and tropical fruit with an underlying funk. Medicinal, herbal funk. Clean.

On the palate, this guy delivers spicy alcohol, tropical fruit and a band-aid medicinal/herbal funk. All coming and going equally before a drying, spicy, fruity finish.

Light bodied with a strong boozy, funky finish. Medium to high carbonation makes this guy a little prickly. An astringent feel to the finish.

This is a solid Belgian IPA, even if it is a tiny bit on the harsh side. Flavorful tropical fruit from the hops with all the spiciness from the Belgian influence. Solid on all fronts.

Pours hazy orange gold color with a massive 3 finger fluffy snow white head with a ton of bubbles in the head that faded very slowly, leaving good foamy lacing sticking to the sides; bubbles raced up the middle of this brew like champagne, it was very nice to admire.

Smells of coriander, floral hops, yeast, lemon and citrus hops, followed by sweet malt, light herbs, spices and some funk; a nice mellow nose that is basically a funky IPA, with spices and yeast taking the spotlight from the hops.

Taste follows the nose with yeast, floral hops, herbs, lemon zest, citrus hops, coriander, sweet malt, biscuit, wheat bread, spices like pepper and cinnamon, lightly roasted grains, sour apple, light banana and some classic farmhouse funk; some earthy notes and pretty well balanced, this combo of styles worked well together.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp and refreshingly fizzy, with a smooth watery feel that goes down easy, very light carbonation, a light body and a slightly bitter finish that trails with some funk and grains.

This beer was much better than I expected it to be and easy to drink; it hides the ABV very well and could be a session beer at a summer party or barbeque for me. Definitely worth trying.

Purchased a 6pk at Wegmans in Warrington, PA

Poured and enjoyed in a DFH Pint Glass

A - Beer pours a hazy, straw/light honey color. A massive and very fluffy, white three finger head on the initial pour that I needed to have settle a bit before finishing the pour. Good amount of aggressive bubbles rising up from the bottom. Leaves quite a bit of sticky lacing. As always the artwork on the bottles is very eye-catching.

S - A rather hoppy standard IPA aromal with hints of spice.

T - A tasty twist on the standard IPA. You get the nice bitterness and citrus notes that you normally get in an IPA but mixed with the spiciness and yeasty banana flavor of a Belgian-style beer. Very drinkable. The alcohol does peak through the longer the beer sits and warms up.

M - Medium carbonation. A slightly dry bitterness lingers after drinking.

O - Overall, I enjoyed this beer. For those familiar with Flying Dog's Raging Bitch, I'd say this beer is it's "little brother". A nice, easy drinking beer from Flying Dog.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle semi-score at the King of Prussia Wegmans (no restrictions on what can go into the $11.99 mix-a-six for the time-being) into my Great Lakes snifter.

A: Pours a hazy golden color with a modest head and plenty of bubbles. Will comment that I love Flying Dog's labels as well.

S: Overall a sweet, slightly hoppy smell with citrus notes.

T: A bit more bitter than I was expecting, but strong Belgian notes of spiciness.

M: Some funk/sour but the carbonation makes up for it.

O: A nice complement to the Flying Dog lineup. Raging Bitch is forever one of my go-tos but this nearly holds it's own.

Flying Dog
Wildeman Farmhouse IPA

LOOK: From the tap it pours a hazed golden color, bone white soapy head. Plenty of lace.

SMELL: Solid aroma of citrus hops, Belgian yeast, slight funk, wet hay, mild tropical fruits.

TASTE: Upfront a very spicy, estery Belgian yeast which is dry and bitter. There is some alcohol presence, and a generous helping of hop bitterness. Everything is encompassed by a mild musty funk that is present the whole time, along with muted fruit notes. Finishes with a hop bite and must.

FEEL: medium bodied, crisp, medium carbonation.

OVERALL: a kind of funky beer, not tart, just musty and bitter. Not bad for a Belgian ipa, certainly drinkable.

Picked up a bottle to give a try, poured into a pint glass, and easily got a two finger head off of a gentle pour. Superfine off-white bubbles with really nice retention, over a straw colored body with surprising clarity. Probably filtered, I suppose.

The smell is initially of saison yeast. Earthiness presides over a robust citrus and tropical fruit aroma.

The taste is very much pineapple, with some tangerine flesh and zest. Not a hop bomb, by any stretch of imagination, but definitely a decidedly fruit-tinged farmhouse ale. Malt and a bit of spice provide some balance to the juicy hops. The mouthfeel is a huge improvement over the Garde Dog ale, which I felt was too fluffy. Here, I feel Flying Dog has found a good balance.

I'd compare this to Ommegang's BPA, but with a stronger tendency towards pineapple, and a little bit more of a kick to it. Overall, a decently strong offering by Flying Dog, and one that I'm glad I tried.
