This offering pours a hazy golden color with a substantial head and very little lacing. The nose is malty and simple yet very appealing. It is sweet with a slight alcohol bite. The mouth is light and smooth. The flavor is sweet and very simple. No complexity here, just an easy drinking American lager. Nothing I'd seek out but not something I'd turn down.

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #64 (May 2012):

LOOK: Great lacing, clear pale gold and bubbly

SMELL: Floral, hop oil, leafy, bready, crackers, clean, faint spiciness, Asian pear

TASTE: Crisp snap, lighter body, hop oil, soft herb, dried grass, walnut skin, moderate bitterness, spicy; grainy, dry finish

Pretty easy to drink, though the finish does become a bit too grainy and bitter without anything to accompany it. We applaud them for brewing something that is yellow and fizzy in a sense, something “craft beer” needs a bit more of, as it should not be forgotten.

A - Pours a bright, golden yellow body that had a lot of carbonation bubbles...the head was foamy, pillowy, and white in color as it stood about one finger tall...decent retention with decent lacing

S - Nothing exciting here...there is a faint citrus hop presence, but it fades quickly to a big bready aroma

T - There is a little more going on with the flavors...the citrus aspect stands out more than the nose suggested...it never becomes bitter, it's just more of an accent to the lager base...the lager base is a good one, with a small touch of caramel, a big dose of bread, grainy and grassy, all with a crisp finish

M - Light bodied...crisp, some citrus still lingers through

O - I opted for the can over the bottled version, just because...this was what you would expect from a lager, just with a nice addition of flavoring, citric hops

Appearance - Pours a hazy pale yellow with a white finger width head. Decent retention. Leaves a fair amount lacing with good stick.

Smell - Caramel malt aroma rushes out from the bottle when first poured, but dies down rather quickly. Lesser notes of honey and floral hop begin to pop up as the beer warms. Slightly citric.

Taste - Subtle flavor from start to finish, hitting on caramel, honey, and slight grassy bitterness on the back end. A very underwhelming flavor profile.

Mouthfeel - Light, near watery body. Carbonation is light, though what's there is fizzy. Easy to drink, due to it's watery character.

Overall - One of the more underwhelming offerings from Flying Dog. Lacks flavor, even for a pale lager. Consider this an outside summer brew, and only if better options aren't available.

Golden color with a thin head with low retention
Nice sweet aroma of biscuit pale malt, honey, fresh orange, green apples and herbal hops.
Refreshing flavor of herbal and orange citric hops, some peppery yeast and a hint of pine and pears.
Light to medium body with appropriate crisp carbonation with tiny bubbles.
Very pleasant lager with a super refreshing citrus zesty. Perfect for what is made for.
