On-tap at Good Beer, New York, NY

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high light beige head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and a collar around the surface.
S: The smell is a little sweet and spicy with aromas of candi sugars and spicy yeast.
T: Much like the smell, the taste has initial flavors of spices that are followed by candi sugars and a bit of sweetness. No alcohol is noticeable in the taste.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer isn't as sweet compared to some other beers in the style and both looks and tastes like a hybrid between a Dubbel and a Belgian String Pale Ale.

Served on-tap at Good Beer in New York, NY

A: Pours a clear medium golden yellow in color with light to moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and hints of apricot highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a very thin film covering the remainder and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of spicy yeast, candi sugar sweetness, and lightly fruity malts.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of lightly fruity malts with a moderate amount of candi sugar sweetness. There is a light to moderate flavor of spiciness from the yeast and just a hint of bitterness in the finish.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: An interesting hybrid of Belgian styles - some aspects of a Dubbel and some aspects of a Belgian Strong Pale Ale. That makes it less sweet than other Dubbels (which is what it is currently classified as) but slightly more interesting. I might enjoy seeing more beers with this hybrid style.

An homage to the devilish Belgian Golden Ales that continue to inspire our brewers, this Belgian Devil has aromas of peach, pear, and apple along with slight hints of banana and spice from the Belgian yeast strain. Those aromas carry through in flavor, with pear, apple, and yeast phenols dominating. It has a light, subtly sweet malt backbone and subtle bitterness for balance.

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Came plastic sealed with a T-Cork. How odd.

Appearance - Not a pop when pulled. Clear orange body. No head. Flat.

Smell - Pale malt. Yeasty. Some bubble gum.

Taste - Sweet. A little nutty. Bubble-gummy like a weizenbock. Booze.

Mouthfeel - Flat as ever. Medium heavy body and sweet.

Overall - Not exciting. Not even very good. And what the hell is with this cork? Explains why it's flat.

A: orange side of gold, not completely clear, but not hazy. No head.
S: apple and, i wouldn't trust this as normal, but I smell a little coconut. It's probably a weird combination with the aromas from the bar's kitchen.
T/M: I get apple with a little bit of banana, combining into an apricot notes. Very subtle pine flavor if I let the beer linger a little before swallowing. Also get a bit carbonation on the tongue, but little to no pull or dryness from hops. A slight alcohol burn comes in late.
O: tastes a little more on the cider-ish side to me. The flavor is ok for a fruit beer, and the alcohol content is noticeable. Not a bad beer, just not what I expected from a "Belgian", more of a fruit/vege beer.

A: This poured a hazy gold with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like funky horse blanket and earthy copper with some fresh hay.
T: It tasted like funky horse blanket and earthy copper, with some waxy hops and spicy Belgian yeast. It had a spicy and somewhat clean aftertaste.
M: It was watery with moderate carbonation. Ok body.
D: This was an ok Belgian pale ale, but the scent and taste and body left something to be desired. The finish was a little rough too, so it wasn't the easiest to drink. Not terrible but not high quality.
