12oz draft poured into a proper Brasserie de l'Abbaye des Rocs stemmed goblet at the Bavarian Lodge in Lisle, Il.
A dark brown body floats a 1/2in creamy head that dissipates to a light cover.
Aroma is stone fruit and fig with some caramel and bread malt.
Flavor is all that and more including a slight hop bitterness.
Soft creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation and wet finish.
Perfect with the worst and scotch egg.

If this were easier to find in the Midwest, I might come back to it more often. This is a re-write and re-rate based on tasting it in Stockholm's Belgobarren. (Go there if you seek out Belgians not common in the U.S.)

Looks bruin, but not a distinguished head. All the fruits in the nose come through in the taste, but is joined by lots of different spices that I could guess at, but cannot accurately parse. Brasserie de Rocs' Brune was a good complement throughout the meal, but paired nicely with a creme de brûlée.

MJ's "Great Beers of Belgium" said the Brune "is malty, very spicy and rich. It is made with six malts, three hops and no fewer than ten spices." And he likes to tell the story of how the daughter inherited the father's passion for brewing, a 21st Century twist that returns to pre-17th century when women were the home-brewers.

This very strong Brune is also reviewed in Roger Protz' "300 Beers To Try Before You Die!"
I will again taste this ale, that is if I find it.

2/9/17: Found it in south Florida. Again, this is a very good ale to have with heavier foods.

Hazy brown with creamy head. Faint nose of Belgian style notes, yeast, sugar. Sweet balanced with a touch of sour. The mouthfeel is and absolute delight. Creamy finish and carbonation that tickles the tongue.

From elcervecero. In Teku glass. Watching Sons of Anarchy 1x10. Although the aroma could improve, the taste is pretty delicious. Alcohol completly hidden. Had some sediments that didnt affect its taste
