Fish Brewing Co. "Hodgson's Bitter End IPA"
12 oz. brown glass bottle, "SPAWNED ON DATE: FEB"

Notes: Slight haze, probably from dry-hopping. Surprisingly good head retention and lacing. Pleasantly hoppy aroma backed by mineralish caramel malt. Floral, leafy, herbal, piney and citrusy. As usual the flavor follows suit with boldness all around: hops, malt, bitterness. Dry, bitter finish with lingering leafy, herbal, spicy and somewhat grassy hops. Befitting the Hodgson name, the caramel maltiness and yeast choice seem English in nature, and I wouldn't be surprised if there's a healthy dose of Kent Goldings in there as well. The piney, citrusy and spicy hops (or is that alcohol?) give it an American twist. As it warms it becomes much more rounded and balanced.

Nose is very nice with tones of citrus rind and orange marmalade. Body has a murky orange hue with an off white head that stands at nearly an inch. Head fades fast leaving dots of lace and a skim around the edge of the glass. With first sip you get a yeasty hue to the flavor. Hops are like candied pine needles that are distracted by the malt backbone to this beer. Drinks more like a pale ale then an IPA. Solid drinkability, but a bit disappointing as far as the style.

Dark Copper color off white head nice lacing
Aroma has biscuit malt with some aroma of hops
Taste is slightly sweet with a bitterness throughout the whole whole body. Citrus hops dominate towards the end and leave you with a citrus pine /bitter taste lingering at the end.

Overall a nice bitter beer without being to sweet/malty

Very hoppy! If it had more floral and citrus I would be more of a fan but it's EXTREMELY bitter (thus the name) and simply not that great.

Ideal place to drink: on my way back home from snowboarding, I stop by my local Winco and find this 6 pack gem for $7.89. Paired w/ meat & cheese roast beef sandwich at home, it stands out as a strong, dark copper, dry finishing IPA. Mmmm Winco
