Released in celebration of autumn’s arrival, Oktoberfest is a medium-bodied bier crafted in the Leavenworth tradition. This richly amber seasonal owes its smooth, malty flavor to a large percentage of Munich malt. In the classic German tradition, we add both noble Tettnanger and imported Tradition hops for an authentic Oktoberfest hop aroma.

22oz bomber served in pint glass. Beer pours orange amber, brilliant and clear, with little head. Aroma is malty, with a hint of the coppery Munich malt, but a bit too sweet smelling. Flavor is on the mild side, but drinkable and balanced. Very clean finish... seems like a lager to me. The execution is very good here, and relatively faithful to the spirit of the style, but I just can't get that excited about such a safe, bland Oktoberfestbier, even if it is much better than so many American takes on the style.

22oz brown bottle packaged on August 2015 ( 2 months old at consumption)
L: Dark clear amber with carbonation rising from bottom and lacing around edge
S: Fresh hops
T: fresh hops, light honey, muddled ripe apricot/peach
F: Heavy mouthfeel with some syrup
Overall: Good one. It goes for the hoppy profile instead of malts, but not too aggressive either. The heavy mouthfeel works great with the slightly syrupy viscosity because the beer is not excessively sweet. After the first 10-12 ounces, it got less desirable. Not a highly drinkable beer. Just one at a time. The sweetness had a cumulative effect over time.

From the bottle, it pours a moderately dark amber with a generous head that lasts a while. Malty and flavorful. This beer is tasty and easy to drink!

Leavenworth Biers "Oktoberfest Celebration Ale"
22 oz. brown glass bottle, the label does not appear to be notched with a "bottled on date".
$3.99 @ Total Wine & More, Cherry Hill, NJ
Not knowing the bottling date, but aware that it's available August 15th through "Oktober", I'd imagine that my sample was about 8 months old. Other than some possible additional caramelized notes, however, I found no oxidation.
I thought it was nicely balanced, mainly displaying the malt, but also allowing a bit of hops to come through. Given the age, however, I'm unsure of just how hoppy it might be to begin with. Still, it was obvious that it's a well made beer.
What I noticed about it is that it's got a truly American feel to it, which is probably mainly coming from the malt, but that it wasn't too much so... some brewers will just use caramel malts to get the effect their looking for, but there was clearly some Munich malt used in this case. It was perhaps a little fuller in flavor and body than those of the Munich brewers, but at the same time it seems that their beers get lighter and lighter with each passing year. I found it quite enjoyable, and I'm looking forward to trying a fresh bottle this year and updating my review.

12 oz bottle, poured into a pint glass
Appearance: Pours a pretty, cloudy, amber color, speckled with orange highlights, with an eighth of an finger of white head that quickly dissolved away into a thin halo of foam that gripped the sides of the glass and formed a few wispy clouds that partially covered the top of the beer.
Aroma: Good and malty, with lots of freshly baked bread, black pepper, clover.
Taste: Very much like the aroma, very malty up front, with notes of freshly baked pretzels, some nicely balanced caramel-like sweetness, black pepper, finished with some nicely balanced hops.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, with some good carbonation to tickle the taste buds. With an ABV of 5.5%, there is no presence of alcohol on the palate.
Overall: I’m pretty impressed with this beer. It’s from a brewery that I’ve never heard of, and is the only beer from this brewery that I know of, so to tell you the truth, I wasn’t expecting much. Shame on me, as this is a solid American version of an Oktoberfest beer. I’d certainly get it again, next year.

Bottled 9/2014.
Pours a hazy dark orange-brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and slight nut aromas. Taste is much the same with toast, caramel, nut, and citrus zest flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp and medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with a surprising citrus zest quality I am getting on the finish in the taste.
