Notes: Fish Tale Organic India Pale Ale is a medium-bodied beer with a rich golden color. The organic pale and crystal malts lay down a firm malt body. This provides the backbone for an assertive hop profile featuring organic Pacific Gem. The moment the Mighty Fish Brewers sampled this pungent and resinous New Zealand hop, they knew it would be perfect for their Organic I.P.A. The result: A Cascadian treasure.

A: golden-amber hue, head recedes to a light film that remains to the end
S: smells like fresh hops, not too overwhelming, nicely balanced with a biscuity malt aroma
T: fairly mild hop flavor for an American IPA, more bitterness from the hops than anything, really well balanced with the malt, though, finshes with a lot more hop flavor
M: creamy and smooth, nice lively carbonation
D: not as hoppy as I had hoped, but overall a nice, balanced, refreshing beer

A: deep honey gold; some head but dissipates quickly
S: some buiscuit but little hops; plain, even stale, with little character in any way
T: where's the taste? Some bitterness on the finish but I'm not getting much focus. Like a casserole tossed together rather than a dish with a few fine fresh ingredients.
M: good mouthfeel
O: forgettable. A plain IPA that isn't offensive but certainly not memorable.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a pint glass in high elevation Libby, Mont. Bottled in January. Reviewed live.

A- One-finger white head. Large bubbles and very thin lacing. Extremely long retention. 10 minutes in and it is still strong. Honey color with particulate. Medium clarity.

S- Floral hops, some earthiness as well. Dank and wet smelling.

T- Bitter and surprisingly boozy. Metallic. Strange, sour and yeasty.

M- Heavier feel for the style. Meh.

O- This is a strangely dank IPA. I'm not really a fan of it.

Poured into a regular glass.

A: Pours a dark copper colored body. The head is a one finger tall off white color with average retention and excellent lacing.

S: Typical grapefruit aroma and a bit of sweet malt, but also a little grassiness. Not terribly unique, but quite well executed.

T: Very mild for an IPA, in fact it's too mild. There's a very small 'ping' of hops on the finish to remind you, yes, this is in IPA, but really, the hoppiness would be weak even for a regular pale ale. Decent malt profile and drinkability, though.

M: The finish is overly chalky and has a weird bitterness to it (not really from hops; I can't put my finger on it), but it features spot on carbonation and body fullness. Like the flavor, it neither offends nor impresses.

O: Though this beer is very, very average (apart from the great smell), I do have to give props for the organic aspect of this beer. It won't make me extra generous with the rating, but it's good to see breweries realizing how fragile this mortal coil is. Now that I'm done kissing our planet's ass, I can sum the quality of this beer in one word: ehhh...

Had from a bottle at the Farmhouse in Emmaus, PA. Poured a hazy golden yellow color with a thin white head that mostly receded. Had an aroma of sweet malts and citrus hops. Pretty darn enticing for an IPA. Tasted of sweet malts and citrus hops with a touch of honey and floral notes. Complex and well-balanced, this IPA is the perfect mix of malts and hops.

Medium-bodied with good carbonation. SMOOTH. Very drinkable. I really enjoyed this one.

Bottle from Boise Co-op. NW IPAs, getting difficult to keep track of. Nice amber body, soft airy head. Hoppy aroma, citrus/pine taste, but very smooth.
