Brewed for Seattle, inspired by the Slovenian Alps. Piknik was brewed with a blend of distinctive European Pilsner malts and the unique Styrian Bobek hop, giving it a pleasant bitterness hugged by a soft malt flavor. Piknik was open fermented at 46F, cold conditioned at 31F for forever, and naturally carbonated. It pours clear with a rocky, distinctive head. Brewed specifically for picnic tables and friendly chats about what we see in the clouds.

This has the most subtle and yet distinctive hop flavor. Supposed to be the Styrian Bobek hop, a Northern Brewer hybrid from Slovenia. It has the Noble hop resiny taste with some bitterness in the aftertaste. This is really an interesting and utterly drinkable beer with such pleasant hoppy flavors. It's outside the melon-citrus world entirely. I hope we can see more Slovenian hops used with such discretion. Crisp on the tongue with lively carbonation. From the 16 oz can purchased at San Diego Wine & Beer Co. Dated 12/24/24 so only a few weeks old. Hops taste very fresh.

Pours a medium golden amber with a big, four finger head that slowly dissipates to a thick, chunky cap with nice lacing. Aroma of pilsner malt, grassy hops, hay and graham cracker. Flavor is lightly grainy pilsner malt, grassy hops, hay, a touch of citrus and floral; solid bitterness in the finish with a hint of astringency. Medium bodied with light to moderate creaminess. A solid introductory lager from this new brewery in Seattle that uses some Slovenian hops (Styrian Bobek) that gives it a little different hop character, but still with good Czech style familiarity. Good malt base and a bit more hop kick than the style usually has, but in a good way. Nice introduction to this brewery. I look forward to other offerings.
