Notes: Like the road trip itself, this beer is about the journey as much as the destination. Each time we brew this hazy IPA we choose a new hop to feature in all its glory. Thanks for coming along for the trip.

On tap.

A - Pours an opaque medium to dark golden tan color with light creamy lacing.

S - Very pithy, green, herbal, and tea leaf on the nose.

T - Pithy, chalky, herbal, tea leaf, and very faint citrus.

M - Big medium body that's velvety smooth.

O - This beer tastes like I'm chewing on raw, chalky hop pellets. I can't appreciate what the brewer is trying to accomplish here. Was this the bottom of the keg or was the beer meant to be this way?

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is hazy, murky gold, head is off white with fine to small bubbles, head presents at least 1/2 inch thick and then dissipates to thin top with some lacing on the glass sides.

Smell is muddled, pithy orange rind with some herbal and lemony notes, no malt or grain character.

Taste is kinda thin for an NEIPA - not much in the way of oat, wheat or full bodied malts; malt flavor is also limited; hops are similar to the aroma with citrus rind and light herbal notes, maybe some lemon specific notes.

Mouthfeel is oddly thin, like skim milk to whole milk, just limited fullness expected from the sub style; bitterness is there but its also limited compared to the levels of similar styled beers.

Overall - an NEIPA by look, but a bit thin bodied with more bitter, pithy hops that are not backed by enough malt/grain character.

16oz. can served in a nonic. Pours a hazy, dull orange with a loose, half inch, bright white head that slowly dissipates into a thin, consistent slick. Swaths and spots of lacing are present during the tasting. Mosaic is clearly depicted in the nose - citrus, pith and earthy notes. Taste consistent with nose - not particularly bright in both circumstances by present. There's also some crackers malts present towards the back. There's a nice body to this beer. Light-medium in body (closer to light) with an even carbonation and just a kiss of acidity. Overall, one of the better beers that Coastal Extreme has put out in a while. Pleasant, flavorful and easy drinking. Nice job.

Vic Secret... not sure if a new varietal or original. Canned 2/28

Pours a big creamy fluffy 1 finger head that fades at a med pace, murky dark orange burnt color

NOse tons of grape skin, dank concord grape must, some tropical notes quickly after that, then mostly citrus, tangerine, clementine, a little pith and rind, mild creamy malt

Taste starts a little bland, lots of creamy almost milky or floury thing going on, then big bitter rind and spicy hops, way too bitter and spicy for NEIPA, a little dank musty grape skin vinous thing, citrus clementine and a little lemony note, very little actually malt mostly just creamy water that really clashes with the bitterness, finishing very bitter spicy hop and flat

Mouth is thin watery, not soft or juicy, a bit creamy, even the carbonation is a bit light

I should have known Coastal Extreme to screw somethign like this up. If I realized it was from them I wouldn't have bought it, but looked unique and fun, but in the past many years they just can't seem to get anything right. It was thin, watery, not malt character, not much body, hops were way too bitter spicy rindy for NEIPA, no soft juicy feel, weird watery milky thing, just misses on so many levels.

16 oz can, no date. Stamped "FT V Secret Hop"

Very hazy, fairly opaque. Orange golden color, thick white head, lots of lacing. Aroma of melon, mango, grass. Taste is similar, along with doughy malt. Lingering pithy bitterness which isn't very good. To me, taste like "green" hops. Soft mouthfeel. Overall the that unpleasant bitterness sinks the beer.

This canning is the galaxy version. Pounder can into a tulip appears a hazy copper with white cap that fades leaving a wall of lace.

Aroma has a strong pellet hop dust feel, slightly cheesy and fruity but more like funky blue/feta cheese.

Taste has restrained bitterness but pellet hop flavors that are somewhat dusty and melon-like with soft grainy sweet backing.

Light in body with modest carbonation, its just ok.

Dark orange in color with murky, unfiltered appearance. Poured with a moderate, creamy, off-white foam with moderate retention. Sweet dark melon and light over-ripe orange aromas with underlying light fruitiness. Medium bodied with medium light carbonation and a smooth creamy feel from the middle to the finish. Mellow, dark orange citrus hop flavors with a medium maltiness. Moderate citrus hop bitterness through the middle that lingers to the end along with light, sweet melon notes. Finished with dark fruit and over-ripe orange flavors and lingering, mellow citrus bitterness. An easy drinking beer that generally lacked character.
