Tasted 5 November 2014.

Pours a medium rust orange, clear. One finger of whitish head, good retention and nice lacing.

Smell is crisp toasty malts with herbal hops and a big splash of onion juice. Not bad, but not my favorite.

Taste is foul. There is no way I'm going to finish this. It's unpleasantly bitter, onions and raw garlic all the way, with a side of aspirin and chalk. If you took every hop flavor I don't like and put them into one beer, you'd get something like this. Nasty.

Feel is fine. Medium bodied, with medium-light carbonation. It lasts, which I suppose is positive, except that I just want it to go away.

Undrinkable. Reminds me of Founders Devil Dancer, which I hated even more, but only because it was this same badness turned up a level. All the bitter is nasty, and there's nothing that comes close to balancing it out.

Pours a honey-rust color with a thin, quickly dissipating head and minimal lacing. Nose is light pine and hints of citrus, with a palate that opens with a lightly resinous orange and dry fruit taste supported by a malty core. Hops are present, but nondescript. Mouthfeel is medium, neither too thick or thin. Overall this beer doesn't blow me away. Good, but not great. Doesn't have the wet, juicy hop flavor of something like a Founder's Harvet Ale (which has become my go-to wet-hopped beer).

Floral citrus nose. Pours brilliant amber under a 1" finely bubbled snow white foam cap that produces thick lace. Good balance between hop and nutty, light malt flavors with an herbalness from the fresh hops on the finish that provides drying and a slight astringency and a light pepper taste. Very creamy body with fine soft carbonation.

I preferred this version over the Chinook....it wasn't as bitter. The centennial seemed better balanced and easier to drink. I like these deconstructed series...its interesting to see how hops affect the beer.

Smooth, slightly fruity, earthy, no hop bitterness at all. Almost tasted like a pale ale instead of an IPA because of how smooth it was.

This was my second favorite version of the 3 different Heavy Handed Wet Hopped IPA's. My biggest problem with them was that it did not taste like a wet hopped beer in any way. It tasted like a regular dry hopped off the shelf IPA. For this reason, I just could not rate them any higher. It was decent enough, but just did not stand out or hold true to what it claimed to be.

Would not revisit. Interesting as a one and done, but that is all.

Worst of the bunch. Mild earthy notes, some malt though.

On-tap at Three Cellars, Franklin, WI:

Pours amber with a thin lasting head that leaves scattered lacing.

The smell is of floral/pine notes with mild citrus and some caramel.

The taste is of some pine and light citrus. Firm caramelized malt backing balances it. Rather abrupt finish.

It hits medium-bodied. Smooth.

If they were "heavy handed" with the hops, they were "heavy handed" with the malt too. It's a more balanced IPA, which is fine. It shows Centennial hop character with a sweet malt character mixed in. Easy enough to drink.
