Some friends of my wife and myself were over just a few nights ago and decided to pick this bottle up from a local bottle shop since the NFL games were not going our way. We figured spending our time catching up and talking was more worthwhile than watching two NFL games that were not incredibly fun to watch.

This beer pours a hazy, golden hue with light carbonation. The head is very thick and frothy, dissipating slowly to a rocky layer with a neck. 3.5/5 The aroma is quite sweet and much more fruity than malty. Notes of lemon, pear, peach, and berries really come across while being back up by pilsner malt and grassy hops. The aroma comes off more as white grape juice than anything. 4/5 The flavor beings with a punch of caramel and candi sugar with pear and peach notes coming in right after. Pilsner malt, white bread, and cracker notes make their appearance after the fruit and sugar has subsided before transitioning to grassy hops that are slightly bitter. The bitterness here lingers after swallowing just a hair, while the sweetness really sticks around. As the beer warms, an earthy/musty notes comes through that attempts to balance the sweetness. 3.75/5 This is a light bodied beer that features a light carbonation tickle up front with almost no drying and no lingering dryness. It is actually somewhat cloying and syrupy. 3.5/5 This is a very interesting imperial Pilsner that is essentially too sweet for me and comes off more as white Welch's than a beer. It was enjoyable for a single sitting, but only for that single sitting. Probably not coming back to this one. 3.5/5

"Imperial pilsner lager" per the label. Reviewed as such - begrudgingly.

1 pint 6 fl oz bottle courtesy of Katelynn. Served cold into a conical pint glass and reviewed live. Expectations are below average given the style's nascence.

HEAD: White. Fluffy as hell. Has a soft look and doesn't recede quickly at all; retention is quite good (~6-8 minutes). Leaves ample lacing as it fades.

BODY: Clear pale-copper of average vibrance. No yeast is visible within, but I wouldn't call it a clean appearance on account of some odd murkiness that just doesn't belong in a(n imperial) pilsner.

Not quite to style, but generally appealing.

AROMA: Overhopped by traditional pilsner standards, with plenty of fruity, floral, and even tropical hop notes...but no traditional Saaz or Noble grassiness. Pale malts, 2 row...I'm not actually picking up on any pilsner malts. Odd.

Aromatic intensity is average.

Suggests a beer with no interest in tradition. Here's hoping it's at least balanced...

TASTE: Nope. Strange notes of sherbert, yogurt, and unwelcome tropical fruit betray this beer's unbecoming new world hop profile. No Saaz or Noble grassy hop character here...just overly bitter overripe fruits and oddities. Pineapple is an especially unwanted note in the mix, giving this a warm booziness that just doesn't fit the style at all. Malt build leans heavy, with overbearing pale malts, 2 row, and maybe some carapils.

The annoying hop bitterness goes unbalanced, never quelled by adequate malt sweetness.

TEXTURE: Because of its booziness and overly hefty malt build, it has way too much body, departing entirely from the tried and true light-bodied pilsner build. Unrefreshing. Not the crisp clean approachable mouthfeel you'd want in a great (imperial) pilsner. Too weighty on the palate.

There's no harmony of texture and taste here.

OVERALL: The overhopping ruins it, and the almost syrupy malt sweetness does little to help balance this out - but does plenty in terms of adding unneeded booze. If you like unrefreshing boozy pilsners, this might be for you. Discerning drinkers will see no need for a second purchase. Let's not try to fix what hasn't been broken for centuries; alright, guys?

Noticed this was highly rated, and I haven't bought a 2 Bros bomber for a long time, so here we go.

Glowing pale straw gold, dense creamy white foam, lasting coverage and concentric rings of lacing all around the glass.

Lightly hoppy aroma, green and grassy, pear esters.

Tastes clean with a light floral hoppiness, the aforementioned pear esters, and creamy smooth pilsner malt. Medium bodied with a nice creaminess to the texture. Hops are nicely present, and balanced with everything else. Overall this is a nice beer worth trying.

I had this at the Two Brothers Roundhouse Cafe in Aurora, IL while waiting for a train to arrive. It was served on tap in a brandy snifter for $5.

The beer was clear gold and made a 1-finger white head that lasted awhile and left lots of good lacing on the glass.

The beer had a bready malt and noble hop smell. On the sweet side for a pils.

Sweet bready malt combines with floral and spicy Saaz hops. There is also a touch of orange peel bitterness along with some slight alcohol.

Medium bodied with medium high carbonation.

Clean, crisp, pilsner with a little too much alcohol to use as a session beer.

L: Pours brilliant straw gold under a 2” persistent, clingy off-white foam collar.
S: Clean light malts, spice, light earthiness.
T: Crisp yet creamy with big malt driving the flavors, light bread, no fruit.
F: Medium full body, medium carbonation, rich and voluptuous
O: Le petit Jésus en culotte de velours!

Kick'em in the Pilz from from 2Bros is a solid imperial pilsner. It poured a golden color with white head that left a lace. The scent carried typical grass like tones from Saaz hop. The taste was well balanced...and very easy to drink given the elevated alcohol content. Mouthfeel is medium in body with smooth carbonation. Overall this is a solid beer.

22 Ounce Bottle
Brewed in 2015 (No freshness date)
Reviewed on June 28th, 2015
Served in a Two Brothers tulip glass

Eyes
Poured a clean pale gold body. Plenty of bubbles circulating throughout the body. A hefty white head erupted, took its time to collapse, and left a great amount of sticky lacing.

Nose
A somewhat dense layer of sweet bread stood out well. Mild undertones of floral hops followed the sweet grains. A rather sweet aroma all around.

Mouth
Nice hit of floral hops up front. The mild bitterness was short-lived as sweet bready malts developed. Remnants of herbal hops blended with sweet notes, creating a slightly spiced finish. High carbonation. Medium-bodied.

Notes
Nice take on the style. The overall sweetness of the beer made it hard for me to finish the 22 ounce bottle. Like others have said, a 12 ounce offering would be supreme. Sweet, dense, and very pleasing... preferably in a smaller quantity.
