Notes / Commercial Description:
Heavy Handed IPA is brewed to celebrate the harvesting of the hops every year. Within moments of harvest we add freshly picked "Wet Hops" to this IPA. Since the hops have not been dried before use, they add a wonderful character found in no other beer. A hop lovers dream. (Available September through December) Each batch is "single hopped" with a different hop variety.

Maybe it's the style (wet hopped) that doesn't particularly Tickle My Fancy, but this is heavy on the malt and light on the hops to my somewhat unsophisticated palate. A bit flat on feel as well. Worth a try and I reckon I will finish the six.

She pours a nice cloudy burnt orange color and leaves the same colored body with a nice one finger white foamy head that leaves super nice spotty spider web lacing. The way the head dies is enthralling as it lingers a bit, turns lumpy, picks up the pace and then slows down, not sure how else to describe this, but what a show! The body is clear yet there is no carbonation seen rising. The smell has a magical earthy, bitter hoppy and malty, aroma that wants to pierce my olfactory senses but maintains a super nice balance between all. Its practically almost perfect. The taste brings back the earthy, hoppy, maltiness and gives a good citrus back-up that I really like. On the palate, she sits about a medium, with a superb creaminess, nothing harsh on the tongue. Though the ABV is fairly high, this is a fairly drinkable IPA. Overall, for a long time I didn’t like IPA’s and then I learned to distinguish between English and American and thought I liked the English more, this one really changed my mind.

Pours amber color with minimal head. Smell is of wet plants.. Like, a freshly watered garden. Some citrus hop presence, but there is a dominant rawness. Taste is very malty. It was had at the brewery, and it tasted like a 3 month-old IPA. Slight hop presence, with equally subtle bitterness in the aftertaste. Really lacks the brightness.
