My wife & I met a couple friends recently at Two Brothers Taphouse and surprisingly we had never been there (our friends had numerous times). I've had plenty of different brews produced by Two Brothers but never this one despite it being one of their flagships.

This beer pours a clear, amber color that shows off light to moderate carbonation. The head is a thick froth and is off-white in color, dissipating to a thin lacing that is retained very nicely. 4/5 The aroma is much more sweet than sharp with malt notes of caramel and sweet bread, with just a bit of toasted bread as well. There seems to be a hint of rye as well, providing just a bit of spiciness to the aroma. Hops come across as floral and just a bit fruity, but not tropical in nature. 3.75/5 The flavor profile reminds me of a hoppy Marzen. Caramel, toffee, and toasted bread kick things off and are backed up by a grainy earthiness before a bit of hay and peat moss come in (the hay and peat moss don't necessarily remind me of a Marzen, but the rest of the profile does). Hops present as both earthy and grassy, closer to hay than anything with a bitterness that is moderate and lingers moderately after swallowing. 3.75/5 This is a medium bodied beer that is a bit syrupy at points and creamy at others while being mouthcoating throughout. After swallowing it leaves a nice wet feeling in the mouth, essentially a thirst quenching feeling. Carbonation is very light. 4/5 This is a very good beer that showcases the Biere de Garde style well and is a very easy drinking beer that pairs well with a variety of foods. This is not a particularly complex ale but it is interesting and well crafted. 3.75/5

Look is deceivingly light copper in color compared to the deeply sweet/rich dark toffee taste. I LOVE these malty with the light hops on the end ales. I wish I had bought a 6-pack of these instead of 1 in a sampler 6 pack.

Amber hue, malty/sweet aroma. Creamy mouthfeel with a very malty base and a bright citrusy top end. The beer tastes fine, but doesn't really strike me as a farmhouse/country style ale. I'd regard it as more of an amber- akin to Fat Tire or Bell's Amber.

Pours dark copper with an average white head. Good lacing. Smells malty and creamy. Tastes like a creamy amber ale. Mouthfeel is light. Overall, good middle of the road beer.
