I had this on tap at the brew pub as past of the tour...Pours a super clear gold light white head, not much retention or lacing...The aroma and taste are what you would expect all skunk from start to finish, I can't even finish the sampler size.

Avoid this.

The Rathskeller Wine & Beer Fest:A medium sized white head with small sized bubbles. The body was cloudy with soft carbonation. The hue was straw yellow and the nose was lightly hopped. The flavor was hoppy and the mouthfeel was smooth, light, thin, and watery.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle. Leaves about one finger of an off-white head with decent retention, and leaves some decent lacing. Body is a clear, amber-tinted gold.

Smell - apples, butterscotch, hint of toasty malt biscuits, and a hint of herbal hops.

Taste - apples, butterscotch, and spicy, herbal hops all washed through with a metallic flavor. Some spicy hops on the aftertaste, as well as more metal.

Mouthfeel - medium bodied, and very dry.

Drinkability - this is not bad, but it's not good either, so that kills off sessionability.

A few remaining beers left from my Two Brothers sample pack.

A: Eh, a golden lager with a white head the quickly fades to nothing. No lace.

S: Nose is bready with a bit of hop spiciness to liven things up.

T: Only my second Dortmunder brew, but the Great Lakes version was much better. Weak malt finish, slightly sweet, with an awkward bitter ending. Very strange and not that enjoyable.

M & D: Medium bodied for the style and very dry. Very lackluster beer.

Dog Days is a crisp-looking, slightly hazed pale yellow-gold in color. A pure white cap of head rises to just over a finger in height and retains itself fairly well despite fading a bit quickly, continuously kept at a sturdy foam by constant bubbling activity. Spotty lacing is left pretty well down the glass.
It's July 19th. The best-by date on the bottle is 8/27/12. Am I missing something? Infection? Great Lakes Dortmunder sure didn't smell like this. I'm completely thrown off. Sulfur. Eggs. Hops underneath, some grassiness, dry malts, yes, but on top of that is gross sulphur and eggs. What?
It tastes similar, if not somewhat more put goether, with more of the other flavors coming out and the sulphur and eggs backing off. They don't back off enough to make this a particularly pleasant experience, though.
The feel, when I can get past the flavor to focus on it, it light and crisp, refreshing and moderately clean, though a little slick on the back end going into a pretty dry finish.
I really like Two Brothers. Everyone gets one miss. This is theirs.

Head is big and foamy, color is clear golden. Aroma is next to nothing: dry, vegetal, herbal, a touch floral, and fresh. The palate is quite dull, lacks any kind of nuance, or any sort of spark. I'll be the first to label me a non-lager lover, but this just has nearly nil to speak for itself, and while I can imagine it's handiness as the proverbial "lawnmower beer", that's not quite enough. Blah. Just blah...

12oz bottle

App: Suspended solids in a lager?! That's all I have to say

Smell: Wonderfully fresh. Sweet apple malt and a hint of hops. A little too ale-like for me.

Taste: A slight sweet start, with medium body. The flavor quickly turns to a crisp, minerally bitterness which is spot on for the style. Ends with caramel apple sweetness.

There's something not quite right about this beer. Too sweet; too fruity. They said it was their only lager, so it makes sense that it's rather ale-like

A- Pours a golden yellow with a white head.

S- Sweet, bready, malts with a cider-like quality.

T- Pretty sweet, bready malt. Finishes dry and slightly bitter finish.

M- Very light bodied. It has medium carbonation.

D- This could be a really easy beer to drink all night, but it's just not my thing.

12 oz bottle.

Somewhat hazy yellow-gold color. Head is short-lived and seems much too oily to leave any lacing behind. Light floral hops and a pinch of bready malt. Some strong vegetal flavors and a lackluster citrus taste. Watery mouthfeel and a bit too dry in the finish to really quench your thirst in the dog days of summer (as the label suggests).

Not terrible, but nothing real impressive in my book.

Appearance: Pours a light golden body with a foamy, white head.

Smell: Soft aroma with only a light maltiness, a bit of butter, and an eggy sulphur trait.

Taste: Weak malt flavor and sweetness. Light floral hops. Faint hint of salted butter. Lightly bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Light-bodied. Fizzy carbonation. Watery texture.

Drinkability: Needlessly bland. C'mon, even the humble Dortmunder Lager can shine and sparkle if you allow it to.

Poured a slightly cloudy golden yellow, with no head and a slight lace and floaties which collected at the bottom. Smells like a typical non-macro burp beer. A little twinge of the alcohol, not much else. Mouth was thin but foamy with a lingering sweet aftertaste. Not much else. Taste? Well, we have Great Lakes Dortmunder here in Cleveland and that seems to be a spot on standard. I compare beers higher or lower based on GL. The Cumberland Brewery in Louisville was higher. This would rate lower. It was a decent lager. Dry and slight hoppy fruit. Malty finish, about a standard non-macro lager.

I like the label. There are a lot of lagers like this out there, but it's not a Dort. Since I don't buy beers for labels, pass.

Pours an bright golden with a frothy white head. Aroma is lightly sweet grainy malts, corn and noble hops. Flavor is malty sweetness initially then more bready with a crisp bitter finish. Light to medium bodied, creamy texture. A decent Helles with a slight alcohol aftertaste.

Served cold from brown 12 oz bottle into Boston Lager glass.

Pours with nice light golden yellow color and white head with coarse bubbles that dissipates fairly quickly.

Slight vegetal aroma, and some bready maltiness.

Flavor is uninspired, dominated by carbonic bite.

No trouble finishing this one, but wouldn't grab another, either. Glad I didn't pay for it.

A - Golden hued clear lager with a firm little head of white bubbles. I little bit of lace sticking to the glass separates this from standard macro lagers, but it's pretty boring looking.

S - Buttery caramel and light hops make up the basic aroma.

T - Like it smells, this one is pretty basic but tasty enough. Light caramel sweetness is perfectly balanced with a hint of hops.

M - Light in body, with some lively carbonation without being raspy. The finish is neutral with very little aftertaste.

D - This was our first stop on my bachelor party micro-brewery pub crawl, and most of my buddies drank this since they are weirded out by most craft brews. A basic but satisfying lager.

Poured from a 12 oz. can into a Fat Cat pint glass. BB date on the bottom of the can of Sept. 2015.

Appearance: Pours clear straw-golden color with lots of rising carbonation bubbles. Well proportioned frothy head has good retention and leaves a decent lacing.

Smell: Bready with earthy and herbal hop notes.

Taste: Lightly sweet malt base with notes of citrus and earthy hops. Lingering bitter and hoppy aftertaste with faint biscuit.

Feel: Light-medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Crisp with some dryness in the finish.

Overall: Not bad but not worth seeking out.

Best by date of 11/21/08. The first bottle I opened from the 6-pack was a bit weird. I started to pour it in a pint glass and it seem to have a reaction with something. Exploded with foam and I lost most of the beer on the counter top. I drank what was left and thought it was interesting with noble hops and lemon flavors. I got near the bottom of the glass and saw some fine particulate floating in the beer. It did not taste infected and was actually quite good.

I rinsed out the glass and poured a second and third beer out of the same 6-pack. These had a very small head that quickly faded. Slightly hazy light golden color. The smell and flavor were not as interesting and actually boring. Just a boring lager with little character.

A bit schizophrenic in quality and in the end, boring and uninteresting flavor. The low ABV is nice but not really willing to drink more than this than necessary.

Pours very clear, dark gold in color with a massive creamy head that doesn't hang around long.

Aroma is tart floral hop, and biscuit malt. There is also an odd vegetal sourness that is unappealing.

Taste is metallic caramel malt sweetness with a definite bready quality. Earthy hops bring a bit of spicy bitterness to the finish.

Mouthfeel is medium-full. A surprisingly full feel.

I'm not sure about this one. Nice mouthfeel and appearance, but the aroma immediately tuned me off, and the flavor wasn't as unified as it should be. Not something I'll pick up again.

Two Brothers Dog Days poured a full gold color with a small white head, and average lacing. Smell was loaded with grain and Saaz like hops. Taste was crisp, with malts, and followed by a mild biscuit like hop bite. Mouthfeel was lighter in body with mild carbonation and was good for the style. Drinkability was nice as well. Overall this beer is decent for a summer seasonal beer.

12oz bottle drank from a standard pint glass.

A- this one pours out a light golden colored body with a small cap of bright white foam. the head lasts for a little while before receding and leaves behind small spots of lacing.

S- the nose is pretty subdued here. toasted grain with a little bit of caramel malt sweetness a little bit of earthy and floral hops.

T- the taste is just as subdued as the nose. a small amount of caramel and toasted bred like malts up front. at the end theres a little bit of herbal, floral, and earthy hops.

M- light bodied with ample carbonation.

D- meh, this isnt my favorite two brothers beer. something ill still try at least once a year, but not too much more than that.

I’m working my way through this brew from the Bros. and I’m thinking it’s probably a good beer – but I just don’t like the Dortmunder style.

It poured fine – golden straw yellow, nice white head and lace. Yep, good. Aroma of doughy malt, Vienna lager lite.

But the taste, that sour dough ball of bread, just doesn’t sit well with me, and I’ve now had several Dorts. Even the lasting finish with some caramel can’t pull this one over to my list of beers I like – and that’s saying a lot. But I won’t down grade the taste score just because of it.

$ 2.19/12 oz can at Vintage Estate
Swirl by 08/27/14 can at 40 degrees into a snifter
Aroma – very faint aroma of malt and flowers
Head – average (5 cm), white, frothy, rapidly diminishing to 8 mm island
Lacing OK – small islands and reefs of small bubbles
Body light yellow, clear
Flavor very delicate, some malt; no alcohol, no hops, no diacetyl
Palate light, watery, soft carbonation

To me, this seems to have little flavor. The appearance is good although the lacing could be better. Both the aroma and flavor are very light and delicate; to my overloaded IPA-favoring taste buds there are hardly any of either.

(Served in an American pint glass)

A- This beer has a warm yellow body with a faint hazy. There is a white bubbly head that fades to a white ring after a bit that is supported by a strong carbonation of bubbles.

S- The soft smell of dry malt with a faint toast note. There is a noble hops bitterness in the finish. The smell overall is pretty faint.

T- The bittern punch of noble hops dominates the taste with a faint pale malt aftertaste. There is a slight tartness to the hop note with a sulfur bite to the hops.

M- This beer has a light crisp mouthfeel.

D- The punch of hops bitterness doesn't have any depth and the malt flavors are nice and fresh but very faint and a bit hidden behind the hops.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Best by 9/10/12. Three days ago, sure, but I feel it's probably still just fine.

Appearance: medium golden hue with a touch of haze to the body and a mild effervescence. Head poured a thin finger of frothy white foam. Not too bad.

Smell: lightly sweet malt aroma with a moderate intensity. There's a little bit of an adjuncty character here; not too bad but not outstanding.

Taste: lightly malty lagery flavor without a whole lot of character to it, besides a small helping of noble hops. This beer walks the line between a craft product and a macro lager.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a huge carbonation; big, BIG surprise based on minimal head and effervescence. Creamy and enjoyable; I quite like it.

Overall: an interesting beer. Not too bad, but there's just not too much to distinguish it.

Clear amber – typical lager style color with white head, crisp and refreshing looking

Slight hops and lager malt. Not entirely a huge nose coming off of this one

Crisp lager taste with a sharp hops bite.. much sharper than I would imagne being only 17IBUs. Lemon and floral with a bitter finish. Overall it didn't' really do it for me though.
