Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a becker glass.

A: Clear, medium golden color with over one finger of diminishing white foam head. Moderate lacing remains on the glass and a few streams of fine bubbles rise in the column.

S: Potent yeast metabolites are out in force, causing this beer to smell of fermented fruit and lesser butterscotch. It is also malty, with a fine thread of affected sulfur joined closely to the grain. Hops are traditional in a predictable way, mostly grassy and not attention-grabbing.

T: Begins off-dry, with dynamic fermented grain that is husky and bready. A reliable whiff of diacetyl hints at the unconventional qualities first detected in the smell. Hop aromatics are spicy before acidity becomes pronounced into the middle. Flavors of the middle seem ester-dominated, although cloying synthetic vanilla stands out the most. Flavors dry out somewhat during the finish, becoming much more clean. Bitterness is mild, with the flavor of dried hay present.

M: Medium viscosity, slightly syrupy and acidic on the palate, with low to moderate carbonation.

D/O: One should look no further for a full-flavored lager of normal strength, as long as the flavors are allowed to fall outside of the normal limited expectations of the style. A witches brew of beer-related organic molecules monopolize the nose and also make a strong showing in the flavor of this beer. When combined with an assertive bill of light malts, the palate cannot help but be entertained. Confused at times, but always entertained.

Poured into a perfect pint.

3.5 A: Lightly hazed golden wheat color. Two fingers of frothy white head. Retention is average and a good sized ring of lacing is left.

4.5 S: Crisp. Dank earthy and grassy hops. Graininess that comes off as almost funky. Peppery yeastiness. Lightly spicy. Quite intense and wonderful.

4.0 T: Again dank earthy and grassy hops with a mild spiciness. Peppery yeastiness. Grainy, yet clean and dry. Tasty.

4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Crisp and easy to drink.

4.0 D: Solid beer. I always appreciate a solid lager.
