Named with our atom-colliding scientific neighbor in mind, this Oktoberfest-style lager is oak-aged, providing added layers of depth to the signature flavors of roasted malt, caramel and toffee found in marzen style beers. But a beer this exceptional shouldn’t be limited to just Oktoberfest. Raise a glass, stein or boot to Augustfest, Septemberfest and beyond!

Medium-bodied, lightly hopped, somewhat malty lager. Nice beer, just not what I would immediately recognize as Marzen.

A: crystal clear; bronze in color; 1+ finger light tan head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: toast and a bit of apple;

T: apple cider; the oak is evident as well; mild bitterness at the end;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: an interesting take, but not a good example of the style;

Included in a Two Brothers variety case from Costco. Poured into a standard pint glass to show a very nice orange amber clear beer and slight white head. Smell was subdued but nice malt & caramel notes gave good anticipation for the first taste. Did not disappoint! I have been trying a lot of Oktoberfests already this year and this one tasted good enough to deserve a mention here. This beer is reportedly oak-aged. Not sure if this is a common practice for the style but it provided depth and a lasting impression that other Marzens lack, imo. Looking forward to enjoying the remaining bottles & may purchase more.

From the 12 oz bottle in a snifter. This solid Oktoberfest
pours a luminous red tinged amber color with a very nice head
of white foam that settles to a thick ring, subtle swirling pool, and
sports some nice light lacing. Nose of subtle caramel malts, subtle
herbal hops, and a touch of breaded malts....very subdued. Flavors
surpass the nose nicely with a faint oak touched caramel malt dashed with
nice herbal hops and a light note of breaded malts. Very nice mouth feel;
medium body, smooth as can be and highly quaff-able, medium light
carbonation gives some nice lift. and a balanced malt touched finish
to the almost spicy hops.

An excellent fest brew from a solid brewery!

Cheers

As a huge fan of Two Brothers I look forward to this beer every year. This year's version came in at a 7.0% alcohol content and an IBU of 23. If you are a fan of brown or amber ales then this marzen will be a great experience.

I don't have a fancy beer palate and I am not generally a beer lover but I love this beer. It's has a clean, non-bitter but full-bodied, mildly sweet flavor with a good kick at 7.7% alcohol for 12 oz. One beer is all I need to relax and chill out after a hard day's work. It's seasonal so I'm really sad that I'll have to wait until next Autumn to get this again. I'd love any recommendations of something similar.

12oz bottle, Fresh By 12.31.18 stamped on the label, poured into a 14oz snifter glass.

The beer pours a medium amber color, dark copper hues, fairly clear with a fizzy bone colored head, hardly half a finger tall that has no retention and yields no lacing. The aroma is pleasant, strong caramel and amber malts, a bit nutty with light spice, a touch of oak and some piney hop. The flavors echo the nose, strong amber malts, light oak, a bit of piney and earthy noble hop character with some spice and nuttiness. The mouthfeel is fine, coating and lively medium body, nice crisp and bubbly texture with an easy but dry finish, a bit weak though.

Verdict: A decent enough Märzen from Two Brothers. Balanced, hearty and crisp, good for the Autumn season.
