Pours a clear, dark amber with an off-white head. Aroma of toffee and spice with a bit of vanilla. Taste is pretty bold. Toffee, boozy, oak, spice, bit of bitter. Mouthfeel is medium and smooth.

So, one of the reasons that I love autumn beers is the malt-forward lagers. This one meets the needs. It is a rust brown color...not much of a head...clear and attractive. The smell is malty and the taste is intense....nice. Full in body, medium malt, a bit of grain, and sweetish. Satisfying.

Not really a true marzen but a pretty good beer.

No, its not a good example of a traditional marzen, but its a unique take and the oak aging adds an interesting mellowing to the beer that is enjoyable.
