Pitch black body, impressive cream coloured head.
Nice aromas full of treacle creme caramel and roasts if a little muted.
Intensely dark taste, expresso coffee bitterness.
Charred and burn't buttered toast is there with the taste.
Quite light on the mouth though nice carb makes an alright, slightly above average bottled stout

A cask conditioned stout, I was ready! Deep and dark with a tan head that left a few smatterings of lace. Subtle roasted aroma. Sweet malts on the palate along with a roasted or burnt toast taste. Thick mouthfeel and drinkable. I found this a good food beer. Had at my favorite Wetherspoon pub near Trafalgar Square.

Tasted this beer by half-pint at a Wetherspoon's pub, the Hamilton Hall, right at the entrance of Liverpool Street Station in London.
Appearance: the beer pours a mahogany hue, with a rimmed brown beer head. Looking just normal...
Smell: dark/crystal malt's nutty aroma dominates the nose, while some refreshingly fruity hops sustain in the background.
Taste: on palate there are light toffeeish malts and roasted grainy sweetness, balanced by dark roasted coffee-beans' bitter edge and black-fruity undertone... The aftertaste shows medium-bitterness with a tinge of Sichuan peppercorn's unique spicy sweetness. But the finish is not long enough.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: quite soft, creamy mouthfeel throughout, very light body and, though medium-flavoured, this beer is a bit too simple and one-dimensional. Not bad at all, but I think this beer requires some special edge to make it really stand out.
