500ml bottle @ home on 27 Dec 2012: bottle best before Sep 2013, poured into a UK pint sleeve.

Very pale and cloudy body: the sort of colour you'd phone the doctor about if you'd passed it! Especially if you had the same head of white foam on top.

Citrus notes run through the whole brew: both the nose and taste dominated by the hop content with the malts and honey (used in the brew) not really getting a look in. Yeasty at times, but those heavy lemon and grapefruit citrus flavours soon take over again.

Not a huge citrus hop fan, but this was OK.

A 500ml bottle with a BB of Aug 2013, so it's a little out of date. Picked up from Sainsbury's last year as part of their 2012 Beer Hunt and stored in my garage. Hopefully it's still OK. The label describes it as a hoppy pale ale with added honey.

Poured into a tulip pint glass. A rather hazy golden hue with good carbonation. Forms a decent head of white foam that lasts for a few minutes before subsiding. Slight lacing. Aroma of light malt with hints of earthy yeast, grain, grass/hay, mild citrus, faint honey and stewed hops. Unexceptional.

Tastes of light caramel malt with a dry finish. Notes of grass, mild citrus, faint pepper, earthy yeast, a twinge of honey and stewed hops. Well-attenuated, followed by a restrained bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth, tingly and dry, accompanied by pleasant carbonation and decent body for the style. Slightly astringent, with an aftertaste of earthy yeast and leafy stewed hops.

Nice enough though not particularly special. Looks good - the haze is visually pleasing. The aroma and flavour are balanced but pretty staid; no outrageous flavour sensations here. Body is alright. Perhaps this is just a bit old and its character has become muted. A decent tipple but doesn't stand out from the crowd. No need to hunt it down.
