A - Nice light, clear brown.
S - Just like any other brown ale.
T - This is where the beer shines. Excellent taste. Nutty, not too sweet, and very drinkable. I have had this beer several times now, it is best on draft. Goes well many things but especially red meats and pasta.
F - Very light and drinkable.
O - Probably the best nut brown I have had. Blackstone has some great beers and I think this one is the best. Much better than Newcastle, which I suppose is the one everyone has had.

Pretty decent brown ale over all. Didn't know what to expect from this brewery because I had never seen or heard of the. I must say I was pleasantly surprised.

Really, really liked this. Not overly hoppy but still tasty.

Overall, this was disappointing. Not a ton of depth and what was there tasted similar to river water. Some non-river water earthiness but nothing beyond that. Just not a good thing here.

Oftentimes the expectation for American Microbrew of traditional styles with a sweet or flavorful reputation is to turn everything to 11. While the english brown is typically both sweet and flavorful, it's nice to see restraint in this brew. It's has a sugary malty nose and a strong malt finish, with the notes of grass, cream and (obviously) nuts that you'd expect in a nice balance. All that with a relatively light body and a quickly vanishing aftertaste.

While it's a nice light brew to accompany a reasonable savory meal, it would be overpowered by rich entrees. With it's light body someone might try to adopt it as a craft beer drinker's session ale.
