BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Blackstone Restaurant & Brewery

Style: English Pale Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.20%

Availability: Summer

Notes / Commercial Description:
Picnic is an English Summer Ale and is a lighter version of a classic pale ale. It retains the wonderful flavors and aromas of British pale ale malt and hops, while using a significant portion of wheat for a lighter body and crisp finish. A hot weather refresher, without sacrificing flavor and character.

A big off white head settles into a nice lacing above a clear yellowish farm honey colored beer.

Light caramel malts and light earthy to grassy hops aroma.

A lightly roasted caramel malt taste that brings with it some light bitterness from the hops.

A light dry aftertaste with slight caramel notes on this medium bodied beer.

Seems comparable to Newcastle but quite a bitter better for having the same kinda taste to it.

Tasted On: 05-28-2012
Freshness: Best by August 2012
Packaging: 12 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Blackstone pint glass
Purchased: 6-pack from Midtown, Nashville

A: Golden-yellow color. Bright clarity shows a steady stream of bubbles from the bottom of the glass. The head is off-white and tall, at 4 fingers, with very good retention and lace.

S: Spicy hop aromas with reminders of grass, hay and straw.

T: The spicy hops carry over into the taste, giving this beer a moderate amount of bitterness. Fairly dry and not sweet.

M: Carbonation is on the high end, with a light to medium body. Finishes bitter and on the dry side.

O: I found this to be a crisp and refreshing summer ale.
