Purchased on a road trip to Nashville. Aroma is slightly citrus/floral. Pours a rich honey color with a 1/2 inch white head that dissipates to a thin film of clotted foam. Nice lacing.

Taste starts slightly citrus with a faint sweetness, but piney flavors kick in at the end. Carbonation is solid and mouthfeel is good, not thin. Strong bitterness lingers on each taste.

Brought this and an APA home and also had a few pints at the brewpub. Quite solid offerings in an area not really known for a craft beer scene---but it's improving.

Very good beer. I'd buy this again in a minute if I could get it. And if you happen to be in Nashville, I'd definitely recommend a trip to the brewpub.

Served in a bottle but I can detect an attractive floral hop cone aroma. The flavor mimics the smell. This would be a good go-to IPA.

Pours hazy orange in color with a nice bright white head on top.

Aroma is of citrus, lime, and honey. Possibly malty for it's style.

Yup. Lots of pale malts in the flavor. Some hops too, but not much when considering the style. Comes on with a piney bitternesss. It's really somewhat of a boring IPA altogether.

Body is a touch on the thin side. It isn't "bad" by any means, however, the more I drink this of this beer, the more difficult it becomes to find something about that it is better than mediocre.

A bit of a throwback IPA to the early years of American craft when American brewers were pulling away from the replication of European beer, a malt balance was necessary, hops were bitter and biting and a charming rusticity emerges. That's what Blackstone Brewery's flagship IPA continues to do.

Medium amber and typically dry-hop hazy, the frothy ale draws a scent of citrus, spruce, spice and sod with a rich caramelized aroma lying just underneath. And those caramels roll onto the tongue with hints of poundcake, medium toast and pecan.

As the malt sweetness slowly retreats, the hops pull from the sweetness and hollows out a sharp taste of pink grapefruit and freshly zested oranges. As the juiciness of malt digresses to a light and starchy support, the fruitiness turns to the bitter peels of citrus while the grassy, green and leafy taste of the hop's vegetation gives a herbal and stemmy taste with a strong grip of pine resin.

Medium bodied but trending malty dry, the caramel and light toffee holds onto a light balance even though the ale proves to be decidedly hop forward. Its bitter grip of pine sap and dried citrus peel resonate long and spicy into the next sip, seemingly begging for a pairing with buffalo chicken wings.

Tasted On: 06-03-2014
Freshness: Best by 08-2014
Packaging: 12 oz. brown bottle, pry-cap
Glassware: Tulip pint
Purchased: 6-pack from Midtown, Nashville

Clear beer, copper in color. The offwhite head is about 2 fingers high, with a good lacing and very nice retention. Aromas are all about citrus hop smells, with pineapple coming to mind.

The taste has a sharp bitterness to it, almost to a fault due to some astringency, but is still good. Tropical fruits are the dominant flavor from the hops; little in the way of malts are tasted. Mouthfeel is highly carbonated with a finish that is fairly dry and quite bitter.

Overall a very well-made IPA from Blackstone.

Pours clear light golden with limited dirty white head. Aroma is sweet lemon, orange and florals from the hops on top of a buiscity malt foundation. Flavor follows suit with a piney finish. A creamy, crisp and active mouthfeel. Overall, decent but simple and boring. Easy to drink, just as easy to forget though. Would drink again given the market, but wouldn't in an area with stronger local options.

I got this off the single shelf at the Kroger in Antioch whilst there for a hockey tournament at the Ford Center. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of bitter citrus. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's a decent beer.
