Pours a hazy brown-orange, burnt-copper colour that reminds me of an aging penny. Definitely one of the darker IPA's I've tried. The white-brown head didn't stick around long and left little lacing.

Not surprisingly given its hue, the malts dominate right from the nose. It's a basic sweetness, tough to place. There's also a pleasant, earthy musk, along with some pine and a hint of citrus.

I immediately liked the taste of this beer. Brown sugar and caramel malts hit right away. It's substantial, almost chewy, but it goes down quite easily. Piney, woodsy, citrusy, salty, peppery ...and balanced. Piney resin creates a bitterness on the palate. There's no alcohol taste here.

This beer is definitely more than the sum of its parts. The bottle advertises, "High bitterness / mildly malty / piney hops," but this is not a hop-forward brew. It's a unique offering which is complex enough to challenge yet balanced enough to session. It's not only the best beer that I've tried from this brewery but one which I will add to my regular rotation if it sticks around.

Resin, Balanced, Citrus, Bitter

In the modern world of IPAs this one ends up being a bit different from the rest. Dank and juicy with herbal overtones. Bitterness bites at the palate, orange rind and sweet floral resin join in, too. We’ve got a very bold and slightly “in your face” Flagship IPA here. Our appreciation grows taste after taste as the hop flavor opens up even more. It’s a true delight to run into an IPA that doesn’t follow the pack but instead makes its own path.

Pours into a nonic a clear deep bronze with a pretty sticky half finger white head atop.Aromas are of earthy and herbal hops, not a citric and pine bomb by any means,a bit of caramel and toast is there as well.More dryer earthy hops on the palate along just a little pine, not much frutiness here, some mild caramel/biscuit and toast with some more earth in the finish. To me it almost has a porter hop profile not an IPA profile, not bad but a little off.

12 oz bottle. Pours hazy dark golden orange with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is funky soapy floral fruit and caramel malt with a little green apple.

The flavor is sweet caramel malt and green apple with floral soapy hops and a medicinal finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a bit of a mess.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. The label lists the abv at 7.0%.

Appearance: The body has a hazy deep orange amber color with a thick creamy head on top. The head is light beige in color and has good retention. This makes lots of cool lacing on the glass.

Smell: The aroma has big grapefruity and orange like citrus rind character with lighter hints of peaches and mango.

Taste / Palate: The malt offers a nice layer of bready sweet that blends well with a solid citrusy and fruity hop presence. Hop bitterness slowly moves in and leads into the finish with some dank deep resinous hop flavor. The palate feels smooth and full which I would expect from a 7% beer.

This is one of my go-to IPA's. At 7% it packs a decent ABV and is also very drinkable. Has great flavor and aroma, and wonderfull amber-brown hue. This is a solid IPA that you will never go wrong with.

Poured from a 12oz bottle into a speiglau IPA glass.

Look is a slightly hazy amber with a full off white head.

Aroma is sweet molasses malt with a resiny dank hop.

Taste is a straight balance between seeet caramel molasses and bitter dank resin hops.

This beer really has to be drunk from a glass to be appreciated. Out of a bottle it's super sweet but when you can fully smell and experience those hops it's delicious.

Overall 85/100

Really good at 7%, very smooth and drinkable... Nice hoppiness and a rather heavy malt bill for an IPA, which I like.... Sweet and balanced. I would really like to rank this higher, just stands out as a great session beer, but lacks that (proverbia)l 'GREAT FLAVOR' that other beers (think Two Hearted or Stone IPA) that kick your palate. A friend brought me this... Would love to visit Ellicottville Brewing Company~

Beautiful head. Sea-foam like, with great retension and sticky lacing.

Oarangey sappy pine on the nose.

The taste is pine sap, orange rind, and a hint of grassy and verbal notes; a bit astringent on the finish, like herbal bitters. After taste has a suggestion of citrusy barnyard, but is overshadowed by bitterness. Malty, but not necessarily balanced.

medium bodied with great combination.

Overall a lackluster IPA that comes off unbalanced, with no underlet ng harmony or unifying character.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellowish amber in color and has a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high off white head that died down but consistently left a short head covering the surface and lots of lacy rings of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with notes of citrus and floral hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of caramel malts along with notes of citrusy hops and bits of floral and piney hops. There is a light amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The malt bill in this IPA makes it taste more like an IPA from the late 1990s/early 2000s.
