Had this on tap at a local watering hole on special for a $1.50 so I took a stab and was pleasantly suprised.Poured a hazed straw with a well formed sticky white head, aromas were more wehat than blueberry but the blueberry was there but not overdone like many of the style are.A nice wheat base to this beer with fresh blueberries coming in to refresh in the a lingering finish. Now these beers are my thing but I could see myself drinking these in the summer.

Presentation: It was poured from a brown 12oz. bottle into a pint glass.
Appearance: It forms a thin white head that quickly fades leaving just a few small bubbles on top. The body has a light golden color with very good clarity. (Apparently this is a filtered wheat beer.)
Smell: The aroma has a big blueberry nose up front with mild leafy hops and then some light wheat notes in the background.
Taste/Mouth feel: The blueberry, which is up front in the aroma, is more mellow or complementary in the flavor. The sweet/tart blueberry flavor is balanced well with spicy, almost peppery hop flavor and some tangy wheat flavor notes as well. Its body has a very drinkable light to medium body with a nice active carbonation and a slow finishing tart to bitter fading aftertaste.
Notes: I really enjoyed balance on this beer. I loved that the blueberry that was big and bold in the aroma but didn't overpower the flavor of the beer or get lost altogether. Well done!!!

got this from a friend who brought a growler back from there brewery in ellicotville. poured into a pint glass. the color is maybe that of a macro, maybe a little bit cloudier. nice head though. somewhat creamy white head with some good retention and some decent lacing.
in the aroma ur hit with blueberrys and biscuity wheat. smells similar to a blueberry muffin. not much else goin on.
nice blueberry taste, not too little and not too much like most fruit beers seem to be. also a nice balance of wheat biscuity taste. finishs light and refreshing with a slight bitter, tart finish.
light body, similar to a macro, tingly carbonation. not much going on here.
definately a nice sessionable beer, really goes down easy. i like this beer on a hot summer day, it really goes down easy. also i seem too enjoy it and back it more just cause its a local place thats definately not this most popular.

Thanks to Cuzco for this one!
A: Pours a clear golden color with small head formation. It fades to a small layer of foam on the top. Tiny carbonation bubbles are released from the bottom.
S: Very sweet, there is a nice blueberry aroma as well as some wheat/yeast on the backend. As it warms the blueberry aroma lessens and the wheat takes over.
T: Starts off with a slight blueberry flavor that quickly fades to a dry wheat taste. Overall not much here, I wish the blueberry last longer.
M/D: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Overall it was a slight disappointment. The nose led me to hope it was going to taste better than it did.

Ellicottville- Blueberry Wheat
A- Bright clear yellow with a small foamy white head. Soapy lacing.
S- Light sweet wheat with faint blueberries.
T- Sweet blueberries and sweet sugary wheat. Grassy hop bite.
M- Light and sweet. Fruity sweet body with sweet wheat and malt. Mild dry grassy hop finish.
Overall- Not bad for a fruity summer beer. 1's enough for me though.

Ellicottville Brewing Co. "Blueberry Wheat Ale"
12 fl. oz brown glass bottle, "BOTTLED ON 09/14/17 B235 11:00" and sampled on 04/08/18
$1.83 @ Cherry Hill Liquor, Wine & Beer (Wegmans), Cherry Hill, NJ
Notes via stream of consciousness: So this is a "malt beverage"? What makes it that? And it says "...brewed with blueberries" so does that mean there's nothing "artificial" about it? No extracts or "natural flavoring"? Hmmmm, I kind of doubt that, but whatever. It's just too golden to have had real blueberries in it, they turn it kind of pink, and the aroma is quite bright. I call bullshit, this is made with extract and no real blueberries - or, at the very least, just a few tossed in. Moving forward, it's somewhat hazy and yellow-gold beneath a short head of white - which has already dropped, so right off the bat the head retention isn't very good. There's no lacing either. The aroma is artificial in my opinion, and it's not like I don't have experience brewing these beers professionally. With that said, I don't mind it, but there's no real fruit there either. The flavor is sweetish with a straightforward golden/wheat malt and I wonder why it's labeled a "malt beverage". Are there not enough hops to call it a beer? That I can believe, but why would they not just lie about that as well if they're already going to lie about the blueberries? A TTB audit would show the lack of blueberries immediately but they'd have to dig around and do some math to find the missing amount of hops. Anyway, back on track, it sweet with golden malt, blueberry flavor, and no hop flavor. It's not that sweet though, and although the malt lingers in the finish it's far from cloying. The moderate carbonation helps with that a little bit, but for the most part it's soft and smooth with a medium body. At 4.8% ABV with this much residual body and sugar they're definitely going for that, mashing fairly high. Which also points to the use of flavorings. It would take a fair amount of real fruit to get the amount of flavor they've got here, and that has to be fermented out (or sterile filtered) or you get exploding bottles, and that would raise the ABV by a fair amount. With all of that aside, it still works. It's very much like so many other blueberry ales that have come and gone over the past 20 years or so. It's a pleasant and easy to drink beer for spring, summer, and warm fall days. I think there are better versions out there but I'd certainly buy this again. Worth trying.

This is Ellicottville's lowest rated beer? Impossible! It is my personal favorite. If you don't like fruit beer then don't bother but if you want something different it is a must.
Get it on tap at one of their locations and they through in FRESH BLUEBERRIES into your drink! It makes for a nice addition.

A: Poured a bright golden-brass with a 1 finger bright white fizzy head that quickly settled. No visible lacing was left while a medium heavy shower of macro bubbles rose upwards in unison.
S: The blueberries appeared fresh with a sweet fruity nature. Light to medium in strength. The aroma was really nothing to get excited about, rather mundane, but unoffensive at the same time.
T: The flavor opens up with some sugary sweet berries then progresses to a dry tartness. There is a green vinery hopping on the fade as well a bitterness of dry blueberry skins. Overall moderately flavored, with a dry tart finish, but was safe (macro-like) that didn't make you care either way.
M: light bodied, slick with moderate carbonation detection. Overall much like the flavor there was not a lot here to sway you either way.
D: While I liked the fact the flavor and nose appeared fresh and wasn't overbearing or in your face, it did seem a bit under par with not much wheat character. Really didn't care either way for this, and certainly wasn't thinking about another one.

Pours out nice. Nice lacing and color, aroma is pleasant. I personally think they overdid the blueberry thing tough. If blueberry was reduced about 50% this might actually be a good brew...instead it's one of those brews that taste ok...for one bottle. Half way through the second bottle your on overload of "that" flavor.
Probably a great choice if your gonna have just ONE. I lump this into my "novelty" beer class.

Bottle courtesy of Hogtownharry: Poured a light yellow color beer with a small pure white bubbly head with no retention or lacing. Aroma of blueberry syrup is pretty gross with some faint wheat also noticeable. Taste is totally gross with too much bad blueberry syrup (shouldnt blueberry beer be blue instead of golden yellow?) and some weak wheat with a big watery finish. I am usually quite fond of fruit beer but I had to pour this one down the drain.
