Pours a clear, golden color with a lot of carbonation. A medium white head thins out very quickly, however the lacing throughout the drink is very good.
Smell has a slight bit of wheat, but an awesome amount of blueberry. The strong smell of blueberry smells so genuine and fresh that you would think you are actually smelling a bushel of blueberries. (Do blueberries come in bushels?)
Taste is good for a blueberry beer. There is a lot of blueberry taste and not much else on that. However, the blueberries do taste very authentic, like they use real blueberries.
Mouthfeel is really good for a blueberry beer. This is obviously a summer choice, so the fact that the beer has a very light feel and a crisp, refreshing bite makes the mouthfeel perfect for the season.
Drinkability is good. The genuine blueberry taste is strong at first, however it balances out with the wheat fairly nicely as you continue to drink. A great selection for a hot summer day on a patio in upstate New York!

Ellicottville Blueberry Wheat Beer is a crystal clear, pale straw colored beer with a small white head that quickly fades to a thin white blotch. It has an aroma of blueberry bubblegum. Lemon and wheat tones lie underneath. It smells a little artificial, but it's ok. It's light bodied and metallic with a slightly gritty finish. There's not that much blueberry flavor, really. It almost seems a touch salty. There's a noticeable amount of green bitterness to it, especially at the finish. The bitterness hangs for a while after the swallow. It's quite light and doesn't have a lot of personality, but it could make for a pretty good lawn mower beer.

Sampled this on New Years with friends. Pours a light, hazy, pale gold color, fizzy head. Smelled of blueberries, what else? Tastes of mile blueberries and had some malty backbone, but everything about this brew is subdued. Mouthfeel wasn't my favorite part of this beer, did leave a bit of a sour aftertaste. If you like blueberries, you can drink many of these. 4%!

Get this on tap at the bar...they put blueberries in it! Makes it look exceptional. The smell and taste are nearly perfect. Nice real genuine blueberry taste and aroma. Nice wheaty backbone. Not too malty. I wish this was distributed over a much larger area. I think it could soar.

Thanks to Cuzco for this one!

A: Pours a clear golden color with small head formation. It fades to a small layer of foam on the top. Tiny carbonation bubbles are released from the bottom.

S: Very sweet, there is a nice blueberry aroma as well as some wheat/yeast on the backend. As it warms the blueberry aroma lessens and the wheat takes over.

T: Starts off with a slight blueberry flavor that quickly fades to a dry wheat taste. Overall not much here, I wish the blueberry last longer.

M/D: Light bodied with a good amount of carbonation. Overall it was a slight disappointment. The nose led me to hope it was going to taste better than it did.

Out of a bottle this beer was a slightly hazy, banana-yellow/gold color with a thin white head that did not retain itself very well and left minimal lacing at first and then none towards the end. The aroma was of wheat, dry grains and light blueberries. The flavors were very similar, starting with dry grains and a little wheat tang I tasted the blueberries in the middle and some pale malt followed by an unusual aftertaste somewhere between hop bitterness and yeast. Not an off-taste, per se but I didn't care for the finish. The mouthfeel was ok, the body light and the carbonation average.

A- its in a bottle, i'm giving it the benefit of the doubt.

S- Clean, crisp, lots of depth to the blueberry scent

T- Considerably more blueberry than others that I have tried. The wheat base was well done with a light acidity.

M- Lots of carbonation, thin body. Works for the style.

D- The carbonation is the only thing stopping this beer from being completely chuggable.

Went home to visit my parents the other weekend and brought this back a growler of this for the girlfriend (although i enjoy it too). We go to the brewery pretty much every time we are there and really enjoy their beers. I bought one of the fancy growlers with a pewter handle and swing top to get filled whenever I'm home.

Poured from a growler into my Portsmouth snifter. Pours a light, pale gold color with a thin white film on top of the beer. One interesting note on presentation is that they put fresh blueberries in the glass when ordered at the bar, and they put a handful of them in the growler. It's a nice touch and makes it seem fresher.

The aroma is very good, I really think the handful of fresh blueberries sitting in the growler for a week really comes through in the smell. It smells a lot more like fresh blueberries then I expected. I don't get blueberry extract nearly as much from this beer fresh with the blueberries then I do from a bottle.

The taste is pretty much all blueberry, but it really does taste like fresh blueberries more then an extract flavor I get from a lot of fruit flavored beers.

The mouthfeel is light with moderate carbonation. Drinkability is good, it's a light refreshing pretty good tasting drink. Having this on tap and from a bottle I can say I definitely prefer the tap version a lot more. Maybe it's a mental thing but the fresh blueberries floating in my beer really make it smell and taste a lot fresher and more of natural blueberries. As simple as it sounds the presentation with the fresh blueberries really helps this beer compared to the bottled version. I'd probably give the bottled version more like a B, B- score compared to the fresh version. One of the better fruit flavored beers I have had

A: Slightly hazy golden color. A finger of white head with a touch of lacing.

S: A tight nose but a little bit of real blueberries. Slight touch of wheat. Nice when it doesn't smell like chemically processed fruit.

T: Kind of on the bland side. The blueberry comes out more in the finish than anything else.

M: Super light. Well carbonated.

D: Perfect summer beer. This beer was a nice surprise. Not terrible and would be great on a hot summer day.

Out of a 12 ounce bottle and into my standard shaker glass. Appears a clear medium amber color with about a finger of quickly fading off white head. Nose and flavor are of surprisingly mild blueberry notes, followed by lightly toasted bread grain, some caramel, cereal, slightly sweet and tart. Not a s thin bodied as the flavor would suggest with decent carbonation as well. Worth a try I suppose.

Pours a light golden color with a nice white head that is about one finger. The smell is a blueberries, it isn't over the top blueberry though. There is also some wheat in there. The taste is of blueberries over a nice malt taste. The mouthfeel is of moderate carbonation. Overall this is a very drinkable beer, crisp and refreshing, you could have a number of these.

A: Poured a bright golden-brass with a 1 finger bright white fizzy head that quickly settled. No visible lacing was left while a medium heavy shower of macro bubbles rose upwards in unison.

S: The blueberries appeared fresh with a sweet fruity nature. Light to medium in strength. The aroma was really nothing to get excited about, rather mundane, but unoffensive at the same time.

T: The flavor opens up with some sugary sweet berries then progresses to a dry tartness. There is a green vinery hopping on the fade as well a bitterness of dry blueberry skins. Overall moderately flavored, with a dry tart finish, but was safe (macro-like) that didn't make you care either way.

M: light bodied, slick with moderate carbonation detection. Overall much like the flavor there was not a lot here to sway you either way.

D: While I liked the fact the flavor and nose appeared fresh and wasn't overbearing or in your face, it did seem a bit under par with not much wheat character. Really didn't care either way for this, and certainly wasn't thinking about another one.

Pours hazed light golden with a white creamy head that thins. Strands of lacing stick.

The smell is of strong blueberries when the bottle opened. But, oddly enough, the blueberry is not as strong after the pour. Some breadiness gives it a bit of a blueberry pie aroma.

The taste of blueberries is not strong, but still dominates. Just a hint of tart. It does have an herbal bitterness that makes me wonder if they added more hops to make a firmer beer base, but it doesn't work so well, as it conflicts with the blueberry syrup character. There is a soapy character, as well, that I'm not fond of. It has a chalky dryness in the finish.

At first, I thought it had some creaminess, but as I drank more - second sip - the carbonation picked up to hit the fizzy level. Light bodied. All-in-all, though, about average for a light American fruit beer.

It's not too "artificial", as some others are, but it's still nothing I would desire again. The soapy character, though mild, did not help, and things seemed to conflict. Blueberry did repeat a bit after awhile. Different, but not too impressive.

Served: In a bottle, poured into an ale glass.

A: Pours with minimal head and the body has a light tan color. Looks crisp.

S: Smells of blueberry and mild wheat, slightly malty.

T: Tastes like blueberries with a mild hop aftertaste.

M: Nothing too special about how it feels. Starts out with a blueberry flavor and leaves the mild wheat aftertaste in the end, but it's very enjoyable.

D: I've had other blueberry beers and this is favorable. Definitely beats out Wild Blue (especially since it doesn't pour a bluish color). I could kick back a couple of these.

Ellicottville- Blueberry Wheat

A- Bright clear yellow with a small foamy white head. Soapy lacing.
S- Light sweet wheat with faint blueberries.
T- Sweet blueberries and sweet sugary wheat. Grassy hop bite.
M- Light and sweet. Fruity sweet body with sweet wheat and malt. Mild dry grassy hop finish.

Overall- Not bad for a fruity summer beer. 1's enough for me though.

Appearance: pours a clear golden yellow color with a short one finger head. Some mild lacing develops.

Smell: loads of blueberry with some softer wheat tones. Very pleasant for a fruit beer.

Taste: the blueberry flavor dominates here and drowns out any other flavors. Some soft grass and wheat tones are in the background and bitterness is very mild.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied. Crisp throughout with some dryness late. Aftertaste is focused on the blueberry flavors.

Drinkability: this beer is a bit unbalanced and more than one glass would be tough to handle in a session.

I'd say about half the customers at the bar were ordering this beer so I wanted to give it a try. Served with a couple fresh blueberries on top, straw yellow with a frothy white head. Aroma of light blueberries, a very wheaty smelling. Taste is a bit of a let down. Thin and a little too watery. The blueberry flavor is a bit fake tasting. I think it needs a little more of a malt backbone. Either that or make it a totally dry and crisp wheat beer and bump up the blueberry just a little bit.

This is Ellicottville's lowest rated beer? Impossible! It is my personal favorite. If you don't like fruit beer then don't bother but if you want something different it is a must.

Get it on tap at one of their locations and they through in FRESH BLUEBERRIES into your drink! It makes for a nice addition.

Picked this up on Ohio along with all the other beers on my HoF run last week. I never heard of this beer, or this brewery, and at $1.50 a bottle, I figured this was worth a shot. Thankfully, it was cheap, because a beer just doesn't get much more typical than this. Typical hue, smell, mouthfeel, and taste. Since it's winter, I'm used to darker brews with more filling during this time of the year, so this is quite a change for me!

As I said before, this is typical - a goldenrod hue, a bit of head, and no lacing to be seen. Carbonation is light and the taste is that of a pils with blueberry (obviously) with some straw and grass behind it for good measure. The backbone is malt, hence the reason why I feel like this is close to being a pils. Only a bit of sour bitterness can be felt in the aftertaste. This is relatively crisp and easyooing and if it was warm outside this week, I'm sure that this would be a fine beer to enjoy during a cookout and a ballgame on the radio.

I couldn't even feel the alcohol in this and to say that this is a session beer would be a gross overstatement. It would probably take quite a few of these in me before I could feel it, but that's alriight. Sometimes, ya need a beer that's not cheap nor complex. This is it and if I can find this when the warm weather returns, I'll give it another go.

Reviewed from notes as I drank this the night before Thanksgiving. Enjoyed a 12 oz bottle of this at La Cave Du Vin. Poured into a standard pint glass. This beer pours a clear medium golden color. Not much head or lacing from the start. Aromas of blueberry and some malt and a bit of grain present. The taste was pretty much the same, blueberry malt along with a bit of hops at the end. This beer was a fairly crisp, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate to high carbonation. Easy drinkin' here. Not something I'd drink all the time, but certainly worth a try.

Had it on tap at Fredonia location, nice taste the blueberry was not overwhelming, some fruit beers have a syrupy taste this did not... Nice summer beer for hot days, very light in color... Was served in a pilsner glass (correct glass??)with fresh blueberries added into it.

Appearance- It is a nice straw yellow color. There are a lot of bubbles in the body and that forms a lot of head and lace.

Smell- You can smell the berries right away. It has little complex fruity smell past the initial berry blast as well.

Taste- There is more to this beer than the berries. You can still taste the malt and some very mild hops.

Mouthfeel- I a lot of fizz bite but for the most part light.

Drinkability- Very refreshing and easy to drink.

12 oz bottle. Pours clear and golden, 1 cm of bubbly head, mostly diminishing. Aroma is terrible, beyond skunk, think porta-john. Flavor is pretty impressive though with obvious blueberry, malt, biscuits, and a hint of hop bitterness at the end. Minimal lacing, moderate carbonation, light body, and light alcohol is hard to pick up on. Overall, the smell really turned me off, gross, but it tasted good, so its iffy.

A- Bright yellow color, clear, half finger thick head that faded to a thin ring around the glass

S- Strong auroma of blueberries, light malts, hint of citrus hops

T- Fresh blueberries, grains, wheat, sugar, hint of other berries near the end

M- Light/medium body, medium carbonation, crisp, fruity, sweet

D- Worth buying again

This ranks near the top end of the blueberry beers that I've tried over the years, although not a lot of complexity.
