Sampling a cellar temp bottle poured into my snifter. The beer pours a slightly hazy goldenrod color with a creamy bleached white head of 2 cm. The foam is fading slowly leaving dense lattice on my glass and creating some pockmarked craters on the surface.
The aroma is some pine sap and citrus notes with grapefruit and lemon hitting my nose. I also get a little general sugar sweetness.
The first sip reveals an average body with crisp texture and fine, very tingly carbonation that tickles across my palate.
I get some sweet biscuity malt which rolls to lemon and grapefruit with some light tropical fruit notes. There is a medium bitterness that lingers a bit on the finish. I dont get any booze notes and there is good drying of my palate after each swallow.
This is a nice IPA with good complexity of flavor and is still an easy drinking brew. Im glad to have tried this one and would recommend as a solid IPA experience.

Poured into a pint glass from a bottle. Pours semi cloudy straw orange with a small white head. Smells of citrus hops with very slight pineyness. Tastes of sweet grain with really nice citrus hops. Beer is light bodied and extremely drinkable. Overall a very good beer.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle with an expiration date of 04/18/17. Sampled on February 4, 2017.

The pour is orange-amber in color with a modest white head that fades and laces. Moderate clarity.

The aroma is vibrant with orange, fruity, and citrus zing with a slightly more muted grainy white bread character.

Around a medium body but it has a nice tangy texture too.

Same orange and tangerine, citrus zest in the flavor with a modest bitterness to finish. A good way to enjoy Winter.

Not bad, but unexciting. Smell is weak. I could drink a lot of this, but probably wouldn't pursue it. I do like the bitterness. Probably good with food, as it isn't overpowering.

Tröegs Blizzard Of Hops Winter IPA | Tröegs Brewing Company. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this beer's got a three finger thick head, solid lacing, and a hazed golden body.

Smells like mild hops with a slight sweetness that I can't place my finger on.

It tastes smooth and slightly spiced, with the hops being more noticeable this time around. Mostly "grapefruit'-esque.

Medium-light mouthfeel with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate Tröegs Blizzard Of Hops Winter IPA | Tröegs Brewing Company with a 4.5. A nice way to switch it up amidst the heaps of winter warmers out there. Thanks to @nicholas2121 for this bottle.

(12 oz bottle, freshest by 022517... poured into a nonic)

L: semi-pale sunny yellow liquid, with a slightly-milky haze, topped with a messy/blobby smear of suds - the bottles in this sixer all seemed to be rather hazy (hop and/or yeast??), don't remember it looking like this on tap a year or two ago... the view becomes impenetrably foggy once the last 1-2 oz is poured in - and it subsequently looks like shit

S: very juicy in a grapefruit way, bit of a cereal grain and malt aroma underneath - but the pulpy citrus blasts ahead... perhaps only a bit of alcohol detected, but certainly some sweetish candy-like notes that could be the hops plus esters... lovely overall potency and density

T: rich blanket of citrus dragged across the palate, trailing some corn-pop like malt behind... the rind-y bitterness of the hops take a sec to emerge through its finish... one can tell there's a moderately-beefy malt base, but it's certainly on the lightest end of the flavor spectrum, wearing a slimy coat of barm... some underlying menthol-pine notes... overall, relatively enjoyable bright and pungent flavors

F: not quite chewy, but certainly some powdery body, residual film... the back end is is relatively light, while the middle of the palate is left with an almost phenolic sting/hum... earthy and somewhat hearty, without much of the clean lift a crisp IPA should have to well accompany food - maybe it would best accompany fatty German food?!

O: this bottling reminds me of a bottled real ale, for better or worse - not sure if the dregs were an intentional addition... it looks nasty but it's got a pleasing, rustic flavor... but it's very much low on the totem pole of my Troegs faves

Dark yellow in color with a deep haze. Poured with a moderate, bright white, soapy foam with good retention. Medium high citrus hop aromas of lemon, orange and light pineapple. Medium malt aroma with light bready notes. Medium bodied with soft, medium carbonation and a pleasant warmth from the middle to the finish. Medium high orange and citrus hop flavors up front with medium low malt flavors beneath. Medium high pine hop bitterness through the middle. Minty, herbal hop flavors on the back with medium malt character. Finished dryly with a minty hop flavor, light bready malt character and lingering pine hop bitterness. A fabulous array of hop aromas and flavors along with a great feel and drinkability.,

To me this smells like a wheat or white beer with a bit of citrus hops sitting on top. Interesting flavor. Decent, now I'm getting the IPA flavor. A bit muddled and a little metallic but at the same time subdued and interesting. Subtle bitterness in the ending. Wasn't near as bitter as the Smuttynose Finest Kind I was drinking earlier although it's listed at 80 ibu.

Tröegs Blizzard Of Hops Winter IPA brewed byTröegs Brewing Company, with an ABV of 6.40% This American IPA pours out a cloudy amber color, with a fluffy white head. Blizzard Of Hops Winter IPA , is an unfiltered brew, you can not see though it. I really like the cloudy haze look to this brew. The smell is rich with hops and citrus notes. You also pick up on some grains and malts in the smell of this IPA. So far this brew is really inviting. Now for the taste, it is bold with hop bitterness at first, then a nice smooth ending. There is a lot going on in this American IPA, hops are a bit on the higher side, but the smooth ending makes up for it. There are also some real nice citrus sweetness in the taste of this brew. I can't get over how smooth this brew goes down. If you like a nice hoppy but smooth brew look this one up. The mouthfeel of Tröegs Blizzard Of Hops Winter IPA , Bold Hoppy, Smooth, Refreshing, and Clean. It is really hard to pick up on the 6.40% ABV in this brew. Overall I'm giving this American IPA a 4.50 out of 5. I would definitely look this brew up again. Tröegs Brewing Company, did a real nice job with this brew.

L - pale, hazy yellow with a medium white head
S - citrus, piney hops
T - citrus, piney, and resinous with a moderate hop bitterness
F - Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation
O - overall a solid winter IPA but nothing really stands out as being over the top or special. Just a very solid beer - which is not a bad thing.

One of the best looking best tasting IPA'S you will find anywhere in the world! Very few beers these days have a cool factor, let alone one this high , but certainly Troegs has one of the highest cool factors of all beers! They seem to do things again the grain & totally their own way & Blizzard of Hops epitomizes a truly unique & incredible holiday IPA.

Blizzard of hops will simply blow you away - it's a Wipeout Nor-Easter IPA second to none!

The first glass I had was delivered to me as I sat by the fire at a nearby restaurant that happens to carry awesome beers. I was feeling quite intrigued.

As I waited for my appetizer to come the beer arrived and after a few sips I was very deeply perplexed, my taste buds were going wild & the heavy fingers dripped down the edges of the glass as the beer's warm orange - yellow glow lit up the room, very dimly and subtly.

I would expect nothing less from Troegs around the holidays and I am not disappointed with this offering in the least. It is literally like drinking a Blizzard. The snowy head on this dynamite beer remains until the very end. It is snowy & fluffy in both appearance & taste. Blizzard of Hops glows a yellow, cloudy color and this is a beer that you really can't just drink. You will want to lay into each sip & draw heavy, full sips that almost turn into all out gulps!

After ordering blizzard of Hops at the restaurant, I was out shopping for beer the next day and I noticed 3 six packs of Blizzard of Hops at my favorite package store - so of course I simply grabbed them and threw them in the cart without even thinking! n fact, I put back some Ballast Point Pineapple Sculpin, which is one of my favorite Daily Drinking IPA'S because Christmas only comes once a year and so during the month of December I definitely am all in on the holiday type brews providing they taste great.

IPA'S abound this time of year but BLIZZARD of HOPS is probably one of the best there is.

I had it on draft and now I've had it in a bottle so I'm going to just come out and say it because I don't want to lie.

Troegs Blizzard of Hops rocks the month of December like Bo Diddley makes a BBQ sizzle. Of course, I've been quite naughty this year, so it is highly doubtful that Santa will get me a few more six packs of Troegs. Therefore, I plan on buying as many as I can stockpile this week. I'm addicted. Love this beer.

The creamy frothy wonderful happy taste simply blew me away. This past month I have purchased beers from Stillwater, Shed, Magic Hat, Two Roads, Anchor Steam, Sierra Nevada, Ballast Point & on and on. None compare.

Blizzard of Hops is a Full Tilt all in incredible hailstorm of serious Wipeout IPA with a citrus bite & a lingering aftertaste that is downright bewildering! You also get the natural packaging & the bad ass white accent cap on the bottle. There really isn't a more fun IPA you could grab this holiday season than this one! Prepare for serious drinkable beer with an absolute blizard like feel to it. You would have to be completely off your rocker not to immediately realize that this is a SERIOUS IPA. Blizzard of hops does what very few IPA'S manage to dopen - it is off the charts!

I noticed at the restaurant I visit frequently this beer came and went in about a week which means people that frequent the place ordered it and drink it and once their Keggs were kicked, they'ran out before they could even really get started.

The bartender (a total tool unfortunately ), says the people keep coming in asking for Troegs, they seem to be disappointed that the bear came and went. I concur!

That should tell you something because the increasing percentage of people out there who drink IPA'S want a really fun, hoppy, interesting beer that comes to life & this beer is an authentic, superbly cool and ridiculously drinkable & delicious offering. try some, you will not regret it!

L -- Hazy orange with a big, foamy, solid white head. Looks more like a saison. Moderate lacing
S -- Wonderful balance of fruity and resinous hops. Lemon rind, grapefruit, and evergreen dominate
T -- Things go downhill here. Pine, burnt orange, wheat, and a bile-like bitterness that overwhelms all these flavors
F -- Harshly astringent yet watery at the same time
O -- This one should go back to the drawing board, but drinkable nevertheless

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 3/9/2017. Pours very hazy deep golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, passion fruit, papaya, mango, melon, peach, pineapple, apricot, lemon zest, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, passion fruit, mango, melon, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, honey, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero astringent hop flavors after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately sticky/resinous, and fairly creamy/grainy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6.4%. Overall this is an awesome IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright/dank citrus/tropical/pine hops and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth and easy to drink. Loved the hop choices for this one. A highly enjoyable offering.

Appearance - Pours clordy yellowish color with white floaties nice thick white head and pretty good lacing.

Aroma - Citrus hits first with a hint of floral. Pineapple, orange, hint of hops a splash of mango as well.

Taste - Citrus is there as well orange, pineapple. There are more hops in the taste than the aroma let on pine, the jiuce hits first and the hops follow.

Feel - Medium body well carbonated slightly dry finish.

Overall - I really like the aroma and flavor of this, I thought it would not have much hop flavors based on the aroma but the taste was great.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Slightly hazy pale amber hue, lacing has no problem sticking around. A lot of my favorites used in this brew; Centennial, Chinook, Galaxy, and El Dorado. Big juicy bomb, suggestions of grapefruit peel, melon rind, green tea, fresh grass, hemp seeds, blonde tobacco, soft pine sap, peppercorns, & some guava in the nose and on the palate. Just enough malt to back all of this up, estimated 80 IBUs to boot. Very enjoyable with a lot that lingers.

smells like sweet fresh fruity hops, pretty nice juice bomb.

the taste is full of sweet hops, great flavor for a 6.4% IPA. not sure how the rating is so low, this beer is actually good as hell. lots of citrus, hints of lemon and orange in this. not sure what makes this a winter IPA though. pretty good actually

12oz bottle into ipa glass. Pours very cloudy yellow (chill haze?) with frothy, white 2 finger head and heavy lacing. Aroma is orange and grapefruit, with a hint of pine. Medium carbonation and a nice body. Taste is a bounty of hops. Mostly pine at first and at the finish with a splash of citrus in the middle. A bit of cracker malt to add some balance. Overall, a very good beer. Would definitely buy again. Now one of my favorite Winter beers.

A thanks to the captain of the canquest, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, citrus. Taste is piney, grapefruit, medium bitterness, malts seem to be lacking. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer, but not the best effort from this fine brewery.

Pale yellow with a touch of haze sits under a stark white and foamy, frothy head that delivers just a perfect amount of sticky lacing.

Nose is a battle between floral and grassy with a peppery and slightly sweet malty finish. All indications suggest nice balance.

Grassy prevails in a slightly tart swig that doesn't present as much balance as the nose suggested, but still a bit of complexity as the taste develops. The sweetness kicks in late and doesn't linger too long.

Finish is a touch greasy, no dryness either but rather some sweetness lingering around.

A: This poured a clear light gold with moderate white head.
S: It smelled like grapefruit and lemon zest, with some apricot and a bit of honey.
T: It tasted like grapefruit, with some lemon zest and honey. It had a clean bitter aftertaste.
M: It was thick with moderate carbonation. Nice full body.
D: This was a nice IPA, with simple but bold scent and taste. The body was solid, and the finish was clean, so it was easy to drink. Nothing terribly special about this beer, but it was a solid brew anyway.

DATE TASTED: January 23, 2016... GLASSWARE: Maudite snifter... OCCASION: saving this for the first significant snowfall--and what a snowfall! 30"-plus, depending on the report... APPEARANCE: clear as crystal orange-yellow body that offers slight effervescence... head is a single finger of white that forms a band of bubbles and coral arcs around--a good looker that compliments the Maudite demon’s hues... AROMA: pine resin and pineapple immediately, with some dank earthiness (Columbus?) and a pungent, onion-garlic intrusion (Summit?)... implied bitterness awaits... PALATE: agreeable in its mouthfeel, with a medium-bodied, active impact... the aftertaste is sharp as cheddar, holding well into the next sip... slightly creamy in the mouth,, with the throatiness to suggest malts are present... TASTE: lively yet amiable, with the Columbus, Summit and Cascade allure translating from scent to savor (the hops were guesses, all, but fit the profile--the brewery’s website states Chinook, Centennial, El Dorado and Galaxy)... orange invades the pineapple and turns it into quite an orchard... malts are at work here, with some balance, but slight biscuit return at the finish and some earthiness that probably can be attributed to its malts as well... clean drinking, easy-in/easy-out kind of IPA ... OVERALL: ...which makes me wonder what exactly makes this a "winter" IPA? Not an overwhelming character in its profile, its best compliment could be its pungent fruitiness, with a close second being its resinous resonance...
