Squeeze those hops for all they're worth! Nugget Nectar will take hopheads to nirvana with a heady collection of American hops. Our Imperial Amber Ale is further intensified with whole flower Nugget hops added to our hopback vessel, resulting in an explosion of citrus, resin and pine.

I tasted the 2014 Nugget Nectar at the Troegs Brewery in Hershey, PA fresh from the tap on Jan 10th, 2014 and I must say it wasn't the same Nugget Nectar from the past. Still a good amber ale. The color was a gorgeous copper penny color with perfect clarity. The smell was roasted malts with mild citrus. The taste is bitter orange peel, piny & herbal with with a lingering marmalade finish. I found the 2014 version of the Nugget Nectar to be lacking in the caramel, nutty finish it was know for and I had grown to love but nonetheless it's still a top flight beer from a top flight brewery!
Last year I rated the Nugget at 95 and the Nugget Firkin at 97. This year I would rate this Nugget at around a 90. Still a good beer bust missing something! Still love it!

Copper color with a thin head.
Mild aroma with predominant notes of passion fruit and white bread.
Flavor with notes of tea with peaches, grapefruit, some toasted malts and pine. Dry and quite bitter aftertaste.

12oz bottle served in a footed pilsner glass. Bottle says "Freshest by 042624." @jonphisher sent it to me.
Pours clear dark amber, big fluffy head that settles fairly quickly into a thick, dense skin, clinging to the glass in thick webby lacing a good inch and a half above the surface. Smell is pine and citrus hops with a background of toffee and earthy bitter.
Taste is following the promising nose very nicely. Toffee, light biscuit, earthiness come forward a little bit. Toffee sweetness is definitely there. Pine and citrus are clearly there, balancing nicely with everything else.
Mouthfeel is light, clean, and dry. Overall, this is really nice, lots going on, very well-balanced.

Beautiful copper red, tastes of citrus, piney malty goodness. Nice bittering end. Light mouthfeel. Great ale.

Just learning that this is a Red Ale and not an IPA. I have drank many over the years and always thought an IPA.
Anyway.... 12 oz bottle poured into a tulip glass.
Pours a beautiful copper with nice head. Can see the carbonation. Smell, taste/feel: Malty with hoppy bitterness. Very, very nice.
Troegs does really great work.

16 oz. can 'Freshest by 05/06/2023'. Poured a clear copper color into a Samuel Smith Imperial pint glass with visible carbonation and a frothy white head that lingered & left loads of lacing. Earthy pine resinous overtones in aroma with hints of tangerine, peach, apricot, tropical fruits and malty goodness. Flavor follows nose with a nice malty bitter-sweet backbone for a finish. Sits mid to back of palate with slight carbonation tingle on the tongue. A little past it's prime but this is the last one I was saving to see if it changed with age. Remember it pretty much the same; an outstanding offering from Tröegs. World class indeed.
